Cosmetology Lab Closes
After 17 irears of operation, the Chattooga High School
Cosmetology Lab has closed its doors. Mrs. Irene
Ratliff, who retired this spring, served as the program
instructor. Members of tge last cosmetology class at
CHS recently donated their services to stufiints from
a special class at LaFayette Junior Hi%‘h. Above, Ginger

ed. Miss Battles has completed three quarters in
cosmetology training.

Several CHS cosmetolog{lstudents will take their state
licensing examinations this summer. The cosmetology
vocational proFram officially ended this year. Instruc
tor Irene Ratliff has retired. Above, Tammie Meadows,

LaFayette Students Visit CHS Lab
Students from LaFayette Junior High School were
recently treated to beauty services at the ChattOOfia
High School Cosmetology Lab. The students toured the

A Cartersville man com
plained of injuries after a dump
truck accident on the Haywood
Valley Road in eastern Chat
tooga County Tuesday, accor
ding to the Georgia State
Patrol.
Trooper D. B. Jones iden
tified driver of the truck as
Thomas Edward Larimer, 41,
Cartersville. Larimer comflain
ed of injuries, Trooper Jones
said, but reports did not in
dicate he was taken to an area
hosgital.

truck north on the Haywood
Valley Road when it ran into a
curve, struck a culvert, went
out of control and traveled 84
feet down a ditch before
overturning.
The accident occurred at
12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

selected to serve as finance
chairman for the State YMCA
of Georgia in Chattooga Coun-
E:ly and Summerville for 1986.
he finance drive is currently
underway to support the State
YMCA program in our com
munity and throughout
Georfiia.
The State YMCA of
Georgia provides Christian
leadership and training for
some 10,000 Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y
and Co-ed Y club members
throughout Georgia through
programs on local, district and
state levels. These “Y" Club
members in turn carry out
Christian service projects and
programs within their respec
tive communities.

Cosmetology Graduates At CHS
A number of Chattooga High School cosmetology
students donated beauty services to teachers and
students of LaFayette Junior Hi%h School recently. The
LaFayette students toured the lab as part of a field trip.

CHS students, under the direc
tion of Mrs. Irene Ratliff.
The cosmetolo rogram
has been a part g{ tgle %HS
vocational curriculum for 17
gars. but the high school
auty shop officiall‘{:'nclosed its
doors with the ending of the
school year and the retirement
of Mrs. Ratliff. Under her
guidance, many students have
earned their cosmetology
licenses and pursued careers in
their chosen field.
The LaFayette students
were accompanied E»ly their
speech therapist, Jennifer
Smith and two teachers, Mrs.
Bailey and Mrs. McDonald of
LaFayette Junior High School.
Advanced cosmetology
students gave haircuts,
manicures and other beauty
services to the young visitors.
