Kathy Lynn Hawkins
Bride Of James Sims
Kath%" Lynn Hawkins and
James Timothy Sims were
united in man'i&ge in a double
ring ceremony May 18 at Sum
merville First Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hugh
Hawkins, Cloudland and tie
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. James A. Sims, Hokes
Bluff, Ala. -
The Rev. Jack Colwell per
formed the ceremonK Dbefore an
altar decorated with a central
large floral arrangement of
fresh pink and white gladiolus
and mums on a pedestal. Two
14-branch spiral candelabra
were on each side alonghwith
two 21-brnch heart-shaped
candelabra and two 18-branch
tree candelabra. One seven
branch candelabrum with
globes and two seven-branch
arch candelabra were placed in
front of the organ and the
piano. Candelabra which held
three white tapers were on each
side of the altar. The unity can
dle completed the setting. All
candelagras were entwined
with leatherleaf fern and held
white tapers. The family pews
were marked with white rib
bons and globes which each
held a sing%e white taper.
A program of nuptial music
was presented by Sharon and
Steve Cooper, Atlanta, accom
panied by organist Beth Ken
drick. g'elections included,
“Evergreen,”” “To Me,” and
“The Lord's Prayer.” The Yro
cessional was “Trumpet Volun
tary” by Clarke and the reces
sional was ‘“The Wedding
March' by Mendelssohn.
The matron of honor was
Lecia Sims, Hokes Bluff, Ala.

They were attired in tea-length
gowns of dusty rose taffeta,
each dress styled with a
sweetheart off-the-shoulder
neckline, puffed sleeves, fitted
waist, ang matching sash. The
matron of honor carried a
cascade bouquet with pink
tifift lilies, bu:"fun;ilflnroses.
white fiearls and trailing ivy.
The bridesmaids carried
nosegays of pink tiger lilies,
burg'undy roses and daisies
with burgundy streamers.
They each wore a single strand
of pearls, a gift from the bride.
The bri£, escorted by her
father, given in marriage by
her parents, chose a formal
gown of white satin with fitted
puff sleeves. Alencon lace and
seed fiearls embellished the fit
ted bodice and sweetheart
neckline. The fitted waist fell
gracefully into a full cathedral
train. Her fingertip-length veil
featured a Juliet cap with three
dimensional matching lace and
seed pearls with a scalloped
edge. She carried a cascade
bou(clluet of white tiger liles,
gardenias and rosebuds.
The bride's mother was at
tired in a street-length dress of
%ale g})ndk in sheer georgette.
he ice was accented by
lustrous satin floral agpliq}xes
and simulated pearls. The
groom's mother was attired in
a street-length pink dress with
scalloped polyester lace over
acetate satin. They were each
presented with a pink orchid
corsage.
The groom was attired in a
black tuxedo with a matching
cummerbund and bow tie.

Mrs. Alice Hudtgim, Lyerly,
announces the forthcoming
marriage of her daughter, Joan
Candyce Hudgins, to Timothy
Delong Adams, Summerville.
Ms. Hud&ins is the mother
of Coleman Washington. She is
the sister of Anthony Hudgins,
Athens, Tenn., Sgt. George
Hudgins, German& Rita Mar
shall, Fort Lewis, Wash., John
Hudgins, Massachusetts,
Thom Hudgins, Lackland,
Texas, Regfim and Sharon
Hudgins, Lincoln, Neb., and
Jerilyn, Mamie and Yvonne
Hudgins, Summerville. She is
the granddaughter of Isiah
Walker, Menlo.
The bride-elect is em'floyed
by Harriet and Henderson,
Inc., and she is an aerobic in
structor for Summerville
Recreation Center and Rome's
Sgorts Connection. She is a
Chattooga High School
graduate.
Mr. Adams is the son of
Nancy and Grady Allen, Sum
merville and James Loveless,
Ohio. He is the brother of Ken
neth Loveless, Pennsylvania,
Gerald Adams, and Sonia,
Wenc}i and Larry Allen, Sum
merville. He is the grandson of
Thelma Loveless and Beatrice
Adams.
A graduate of Chattooga
High School, he is also
employed by Harriet and
Henderson.
The wedding is planned for
Saturday, July 5, at 6 p.m. at
West Fifth Street Church of
Christ followed by a reception
at Fairway Recreation Center.
All friend‘; and relatives are
invited.
Arts Hearing
Scheduled In
Cartersville
The Georgia Council for the
Arts will htfild one of its 12
statewide hearings on its new
ly developed long-range plan
for fiscal 1988-90 in Northwest
Georgia.
The Seventh District hear
ing will be held at 6 p.m. July
17 in the Cartersville Civic
Center, 435 W. Main St.
Sims, Arnold Sims and RoFer
Sims, Hokes Bluff, Ala.,
brothers of the groom; Mike
Hawkins, Cloudland, brother
of the bride; and Mark Bart
ney, Atlanta. They were also
attired in black tuxedos.
Guests were registered in
the church foier by Donna B.
Long. The table was covered
with a pink tablecloth overlaid
with lace. The table held the
bride’s book, a quill feather pen
and a flower arrangement sur
roundingra globe with a lighted
taper. The ceremony was
directed by Peggy Morehead.
After the ceremony, a
reception was held in the
church fellowship hall. All
refreshment ta%les were
covered with white tablecloths
overlaid with Chantilly lace.
Each were caught in the mid
dle and the corners with lace
bows. The center table was
decorated with a floral arrange
ment of fresh pink and white
gladiolus and mums with two
silver candelabra with lighted
tapers on each side.
Silver a.tlthoint.rnents held
sausaf balls, mints, nuts, pin
wheel ham sandwiches, cheese
straws, nut kisses and fresh
strawberries with coconut and
whipfied cream. The burgundy
punch was served from a
sfiparate table from a large
silver Sheridan punch bowl.
The bride's table held the
four-tier wedditl;s cake
beautifully decorated with a
fountain, pink roses, white col
umns, white bells and topped
with the traditional bride and

double-tier chocolate cake top
ged with a cascade of roses.

The cake, made by Molly
Dave:lport, was given as a
special gift. M&M's were serv
ed from a wooden container
and coffee was served from a
silver service. The table was
decorated with a wooden
candelabrum with globes
around the tapers and a floral
arrangement in the center.
