Mayor Sewell Cash and members of the City
Council has scheduled a Public Hearing to allow
citizens input and comments concerning a pro
posed service charge fee in lieu of city ad valorem
taxes. The meeting will be held prior to the regular
July Council meeting at City Hall on Monday, July
14, 1986 at 7:00 p.m.
The citizens and business people of the City
are encouraged to be present and to express their
views concerning the proposed policy changes. If
a service charge fee policy is implemented, the
Mayor and Council would not assess a property
tax fee. Under the new plan it would not be
necessary for the City of Summerville to bill pro
perty owners for ad valorem taxes. If a new service
charge fee is approved the amount would be in
cluded in the monthly utility statement to all utili
ty customers of the City.
A public hearing will also be conducted for the
purpose of discussing the 1986/87 City Budget.
The Budget will be adopted during the Regular
