Brief Showers Welcome
Isolated showers continue to bring temporary relief
from the high temperatures experienced in the county
this week. The Chapel Hill community on the Chapel
Hill Road was cooled by a light rainfall Friday after

Count Pork Producers Ballots

statewide election to select individuals for appointment
to an industry-wide board to administer a promotion,
research and consumer information office for pork. On
ly three Chattooga County ballots were cast, one each
for the only three candidates listed: Bill Adams, David
Stephenson and Sam Stodghill. Eighteen ballots were
mailed out in the county.
No Voter Count Yet
The deadline for registering
to vote in the Aug. 12 general
primary was Monday but it
will be several days before the
Chattooga County Board of
Registrars has a count on the
total number registered in the
county.

Decrease In Chattooga
The number and value of
unemployment checks written
to Chattooga County residents
in June drogped below the May
level and below the number |
issued in June, 1985, according ‘
to the Georgia Labor |

Trion High Accepts 86-87 Applications
Trion High School is cur
rently accepting applications
for enrollment of new students
in some grade levels for the
1986-87 school year. The
system accepts students from
a broad area of North Georgia,
including Walker County,
Chattooga County and Trion.
“For those students that
choose to attend Trion High
School, the school will expect
a diligent pursuit of the
academic program, a well
disciplined student, and a stu
dent with good attendance,”
said Principal Clarence
Blevins.

in 1983, and has been ranked
within the top 10 school

school years. The eighth grade
was first in 1984 and again this
year. The ninth grade was third
in 1986 (the first gear this test
was administered).

“These accomplishments in
the State Testing Program are
just one indicator of the
academic achievements of the
students at Trion. The school
has a well defined curricular
program that allows students
an adequate opportunity for
college preparation, vocational
Ki‘efiaration and or a general

The academic extracur
ricular activities of debate,
drama and literary all perform
well, he said. The debate team
com(i)osed of 18 students in
grades 8-12 has won the
regional tournament each of
the last four years. The drama
production, consisting of 14
students in %rades 9-12, has
placed either first or second in
each of the past four years. The
overall literary team, con
sistinfi of 52 students in grades
9-12, has placed second in the
regional tournament in each of
the last four years.
EA Degree
The Entered Apprentice
degree will be conferred at the
regular meetini of Chattooga
Lodge 704, FEAM, at 7:30
