Benefit Singing
A benefit singing will be
held at the First Born Church
of God, Roberts Street, Sum
merville at 7 p.m. Friday, ac
cording to the Rev. R. B. Tim
mons, pastor.
The singing will be for a
man who has cancer.
Refreshments will go on
sale at 5 p.m.
Singers will include John
and the Singing Revelators,
Calhoun; the fiap y Chris
tians, Chattanooga, ;l)‘enn.; and
the Way of the Cross Singers,
Summerville, as well as the Ca
naan Land Trio of the First
Born Church of God.
Lyerly Singing
The third Saturday night
singing will be held at tKe Lyer
lg Con%regational Holiness
hurch tfiinning at 7 o'clock.
The Heaven's Echoes,
Cedartown and The New Har
mony, Lyerly, will be special
guest singers.
A singing will also be held
at the church at 6 p.m. Sunday
with the Singing Skylites of
Rome as guests.

Softball
Tourney
Scheduled
A church league softball
tournament will be held Friday
and Saturday, Aug. 1 and 2, at
the Trion softball field.
The event is sponsored by
Trion 50-Yard Clu%. The entry
fee is $65 i)er team and there
will be a limit of 10 teams.
Each team is required to fur
nish one ball.
First, second and third
place trophies will be awarded.
Church teams wishing to

Informant Tip Leads To ‘Pot’
An informant's tip led to
the confiscation of 50
suspected marijuana plants
near the heart of downtown
Berryton Monday.
Investigators Ron Turner
and Greg iatta of the Chat
tooga County Sheriff's Office
received a tip about the
suspected pot, said Sheriff
Gary McConnell. Thef' found
the patch in an open field about
800 feet from the center of
downtown, he added.

Sunday from the intersection

been recovered. It was owned
by Michael White, Lyerly,
reports said, and he provided
the names of suspects in the
theft. No arrests were reported.

money to two men at
