Representatives of Camp
Juliette Low, a Cloudland
wilderness camp for girls,
spoke to members of the
Summerville-Trion Optimist
Club last Friday.
The camp was founded in
1922 by Juliette Low, who
earned international recogni
tion as founder of the éli‘rl
Scouts of America. Although
the camp was originally a train
ing center for Girl Scouts, it
was incorporated as a separate,
non-profit organization in the
19305.
The cams) offers rustic liv
ing for girls in third grade
through senior high school.
There are four two-week ses
sions each summer, with many
campers choosing to attend

programs.
In other business, the Op
timist board of directors ap
proved plans for a Tri-Star
Football Skills event which will
be held at the Chattooga and
Trion football fields in
September. Committees will be
appointed to work on the event
later this month.
The board also approved
the ‘‘Help Them glear"
awareness project for local
students.
Club President John Martin
announced a full-day, 16-hour
CPR course which was held
Saturday, Aug. 2. Martin en
couraged Optimists to attend
the training session.

day-long CPR class.
