The marriage of Miss En

ny Elwyn Thomas was solem
nized at 7:30 i).m. Saturday,
Aug. 9, at Lyerly First Baptist
Church.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William “Bill”
David Ramsey, Ltyerly. The
groom is the son of Mrs. Jim
my Putnam, Dalton, and the
late Clifford C. Thomas.
The Rev. James Smith Jr.,
brother-in-law of the Froom,
performed the double-ring
ceremony.
A program of nuptial music
was provided by Peggy
Morehead, pianist; Juanita
Bryant, organist; Teresia Hall
and Wil%iam Ellenburg,
soloists. Selections included
“My Own True Love,"” “Lara’s
- Theme,”” ‘‘Whither Thou
Goest,” ““Theme from Love
~ Story,” “Trumpet Voluntary,”
“I Owe You,” and ‘‘Flesh of
~ My Flesh.” Selections also in
cluded an arrangement
~ especially written and af)erform
ed by Mrs. Teresia Hall for the
! bridal couple called, A Wed
~ ding Prayer.” The processional
- was ‘‘Lohengrin Bridal

- an arched branch candelabra
i embellished with greenery and
holding 15 lighted candles
] flanked by two seven-candle
' trees and two spiral trees,
| similarly adorned. Three brass
' stands containing a massive ar
' rangement of fresh ruebrum
| lilies, alstromeria lillies, cala
| lillies, miniature carnations,
| fugi mums and springrye fern
| placed in front of the
| candelabras completed the
| background. The windows
were %avishly decorated with
hurricane globes containing
lighted tapered candles sur
rounded by fresh flowers and
ferns completed the setting.
The family pews were marked
with Colonial laced wreaths
entwined with miniature carna
tions and baby's breath with a
small white satin ribbon form
ing a bow at the top. A
memorial candle was lri)t in
memory of the late Annie K.
Elsberry, grandmother of the
bride.
. The bride was given in mar
riage by her parents and
| escorted by her father. She
| wore a full length gown made
| of white silk tagfeta. Her gown,
an Ilissa design, had a Vic
torian style neckline accented
by a cameo yolk, dropped
| waistline with bodice complete
| ly covered with elegantly
| designed, beaded Alencon and
| Chantilly lace. The modified
| puff sleeves tapered gently
| down the arm forming a point
| on her hand and accented with
| lace, was accomplished b
| white lace gloves. The sos);
| gathered skirt featured a deep
pyramid of lace cascading to a
| scalloped bottom of beaded
Fearls and lace. Her cathedral
| length train, adorned with
| layers of ruffles gyramiding up,
| was surrounded by scalloped
] layers of sculptured pearl lace.
| To complete her attire, her
| head was highlighted by a
| crown of pearls and
| rhinestones accented with a
' ruffled puff cascading into a
| fingertip veil.
| She carried a bouquet con
! taining a white Bible surround
| ed by lillies of the valley,
| gardenias, stephanotis and ivy
| cascading down tea length. The
| bride carried an antique han
dkerchief that belonged to her
grandmother Elsberry. Com
| pleting the bride’s attire were
| diamond earrings belonging to
her mother, a double strand
pearl bracelet and a traditional
antique lace garter with blue

They were attired in full |
length rose taffeta dresses. 1
Each dress was styled with a |
fitted bodice and a straightl
skirt with a split in the back
featuring a sweetheart neckline l
with short puffed sleeves and |
matching shoes. The atten- }
dants wore three-quarter }
length white lace gloves, pearl |
necklaces and pearl earrings, |
given to them by the brige. |
Topping the attire was a halo
of baby's breath. They each!
carried a nosegay consisting of
ruebrum lillies, alstromeria
lillies, baby's breath, greenery
and rose satin ribbons.
The flower girl was Kayla
Dixson, cousin of the bride. ghe
wore a full length dress of rose
taffeta. The bodice was fitted
with a slightly gathered waist,
sweetheart neckline and puffed
sleeves. Attached at the waist
was a cathedral length train.
Her hair was adorned with a
halo of baby’s breath. She car
ried a basket of satin and anti
que lace with the handle wrap
ped with silk flowers and satin
ribbons filled with rose petals.
The ringbearer was Jason Dix
son, cousin of the bride. He car
ried a satin pillow with antique
lace surrounding. Centered on
the pillow were tghe triple satin
bows holding two gol§en wed
ding bands.
The best man was the
groom’'s brother, Carlton
Thomas, Dalton. Groomsmen
were Jeff Ramsey, Lyerly,
brother of the brid)e,z; Holland
Ramsey, Lyerly, brother of the
bride; Eddie Brooks,
LaFayette; David Brown,
LaFayette; Robby Tate,
LaFayétte; and Jamie Smith,
Tifton.
To conclude the ceremony,
a poem written by the groom
for the bride was read by the |
groom.
The wedding was directed
by Lori Hicks, Dalton.
RECEPTION
Immediately following the
ceremongr a garden reception
was held at the home of the
bride’s parents. The entrance
of the J)OOI and Farden area was
graced with ferns in white
Wicker stands. The bride's
book was placed on a circular
table draped with white bridal
satin and overlayed with Chan
tilly lace. The bride’s book was
attended by Joni Bowman and
Euest were V\greeted by Patsy
Isberry. White mums ac- |
cented the drive and entrance.
The pool was adorned with
a flowing fountain, encircled
with a floating arrangement of
ruebrum lillies and fugi mums.

To Fan Appeal
Response was ‘‘tremen
dous’ to an agpeal in July by
the North Georgia Home
Health Agency Inc. for fans to
be donated for distribution to
the sick or elderly, according to
Agency officials.
Many readers of The News
responded to the re?uest for
donations of electric fans, said
officials of the Fort Oglethorpe—
based agency. The fans were
distributed to those unable to
buy fans, esgecially the sick,
elderly and shut-ins, they said.
Menlo Sing
On Saturday
A sgecial outdoor singing
will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday
at the Menlo City Park.
Singers will include the
Voices of Calvary, the Revela
tions and the Berryton Baptist
Church Singers.
The event is sponsored by
the Menlo Lions CYub and Her
man Adams. The public is
invited.
An investment-money
management seminar will be
held from 7 until 9 p.m. Aug.
19 and 21 at Berry College. The
fee is $25.
