Five-Legged Frog Found
Tracy Bruce, 11, holds a five-legged frog he found last
Saturday near his home. Tracy and a friend, Larry
Gilreath (not pictured) were riding a motorcycle when
Larry noticed something moving in a mud Euddle. They
stoi)ped the bike and Tracy reached into the water and
?ul ed out the frog, which had four normal legs and a
ifth leg located near the middle-rear part of its body
(see enlargement). Tracy hadn't decided what to do with
the frog earlier this week. (Staff Photo).

MIA Week
Planned
For Area
Sept. 14-19 has been set
aside as a time to remember
American servicemen still
missing in action.
There are still 10 Georgia
Servicemen among those unac
counted for by the Vietnamese
— 10 families in Georgia that
still do not know if their sons,
husbands or fathers are dead or
still alive in some prison in
Vietnam.
American Legion Auxiliary
Unit 129 is planning a public
awareness program Sept.
14-19, culminating in a brief
ceremony at the Chattooga
County Courthouse on the
evening of Sept. 19.
Foreign Relations Chair
man Mary Jane Haney says
merchants will be asked to
place red bows on their doors,
residents asked to tie red rib
bons to their mail boxes, step
rails, etc. Everyone will be ask
ed to fly a red ribbon from their
vehicle's antennas.
More plans will be announc
ed by Auxiliary Unit 129 and
Chairman Haney next week.
“The idea behind this Na
tional Awareness Week is to
try to let our Congressmen and
the President know that the
pulic expects some action on
this disgraceful situation,”
Chairman Haney said.
