Lester Broyles
Lester "'Leck' Broyles, 67,
Ider, Ala. Rte. 1, passed away
at 4:30 am. Sept. 18 at his
residence.
Mr. Broyles was born Feb.
16, 1919, in Jackson County,
Ala,, son of the late Thomas A.
and Gussie Barnes Broyles. He
was a retired machine operator
with the C.C.A. Company,
Chattanooga, Tenn.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Irene Eenefield Broyles;
two sons, Donald Broyles and
Chesley Broyles, Ider; one
daughter, Mrs. Doris Crowe,
Austell; seven brothers, Coy
Broyles, Summerville, Ed
Broyles and Fred Broyles,
Ider, Howard Broyles and
Charles Broyles, Rainsville,
Ala., Erby Broyles, Gadsden,
Ala., and Houston Broyles,
Albertville, Ala.; three sisters,
Mrs. Audrey Robertson, Sum
merville, N{rs. Edna Wyatt,
Florida and Mrs. Erma Taylor,
Horton, Ala.; 10 grandchilciren:
three great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Sept. 20 in the Kirby Funeral
Home Chapel, Henagar, Ala.,
with buria?ein Union Grove
Cemetery.
Kirby Funeral Home of
Henagar, Ala., was in charge of
arrangements.

Larry Cotham
Larry W. Cotham, 45, Old
Dalton Road, Rome, passed
away Sept. 18 from injuries
sustainecf in an automobile ac
cident that night near Rome.
Mr. Cotham was born in
Luxora, Ark., Dec. 29, 1940,
son of the late Clyde William
Cotham. He was employed by
the Georgia Power gompany.

44, Trion Rte. 1, passed away
Monday morning.
Mrs. Greene was born in
Chattooga County Feb. 5,
1942, daughter of the late

Mae Huffstler.

Saturday in Knoxville.

County Dee. 30; 1933,

Pursley. Mrs. Harris was a
1955 graduate of Trion High
Schoofrandamember of the St.
Luke United Methodist
Church of Knoxville.
Surviving are her widower,
the Rev. Thomas Harris, Knox
ville; one son, T. Gilbert Har
ris Jr., Knoxville; mother and
stepfather, Mrs. Maggie and

Miss Knowles was a member of
the Cedar Avenue Baptist
Church, Rome. She had resid
ed in Chattooga County since
her retirement in 1966.

Mrs. Rosetta C. Locklear,
77, Summerville Rte. 3, passed
away Monday night in the local
nursing home.
Mrs. Locklear was born in
DeKalb County, Ala., Aug. 20,
1909, daughter of the late
Timothy W. and Ollie Whitt
Craig. She was a member of the
Trion First Baptist Church and
was retired from the spooler
room of RieEel Textile Co?. A
son, Ben Locklear, died in
1978.
Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. Eloise
Bentley, Menlo, and Mrs.
Ernestine Plummer, Ware
Shoals, S.C.; one son, Billy
Locklear, Summerville; two
sisters, Mrs. Clara Quarles and
Mrs. Nettie Strickland,
Gadsden, Ala.; two brothers,

Charlie Craig, Rainesville, Ala.;

Pearson, formerly of Trion,
died Sept. 20 at Coffee
Regional Hospital, Douglas.
She was a retired school
teacher and taught in the Chat
tooga County schools for a
number of years. She retired in
1974 after having taught at
Pearson Elementar SC%IOOI.
Survivors incluci; a sister,
Mrs. Sarah Inez Tate White,
Summerville; three brothers,
Robert G. Tate, Canoga Park,
Calif., Max D. Tate, Hixon,
Tenn., and Barnie R. Tate,
Atlanta.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel
of Kelihan Funeral Home,
Pearson , with the Rev. Bob
Pierce officiating. Interment
was in Sweetwater Cemetery,
Pearson Rte. 2.

Fred William **Ted" White,
39, LaFayette Rte. 2, passed
away Friday at his residence.
He was a member of the
Church of Christ, and a veteran
of the U.S. Navy. He was
employed with Reichhold
Chemical Co., Kensington.
Survivors include his
widow, Mrs. Shirley White;
father, Archie J. White,
LaFayette; mother, Gladys
Simmons Hardy, Summervil{e;
sister, Bonnie Cliff, LaFayette;
two brothers, Harold White,
Perryton, Texas, and Ronald
White, LaFayette.

TRION WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN CAR ON VIRGINIA DRIVE
Authorities Feel Death Was Due To Natural Causes
Foul Play Not Suspected
In Woman’s Death
Chattooga County law en
forcement officers don't
suspect foul play in the death
of a Trion woman early Mon
day morning just prior to when
a car in which she was riding
wrecked northeast of
Summerville.
The victim was identified
by Chattooga Sheriff Gary
McConnell as Dorothy Greene,
44, Trion Rte. 1. The woman
was dead before the vehicle in
which she was a passenger ran
off Virginia Drive and into a
tree, he said. Driver of the vehi
cle, McConnell said, was Billy
Joe Myers, 44, Piedmont, Ala.,
a former resident of
Summerville.
The mishap occurred short
ly after 2 a.m. Monday, the
sheriff said. There was small
damage to the compact car,
which struck a tree.
An autopsy was performed
later Mon(Yay morning and

James Alan Archer and
Karen Edwina King completed
requirements for their (fegree
during the summer quarter at
the University of Georgia.
Archer earned a bachelor of
science degree and Ms. King
earned a bachelor of science in
environmental health degree.
