Prater’s
| Mill Fair
'Scheduled
The Prater’s Mill Country
Fair will be held Oct. 11 and 12,
Saturday and Sundaii near
Dalton. In its 15-year history,
the fair has received many
awards, most recently picked
one of the top 100 events in
North America and also top 20
events in the Southeast.
Described as a two-day
tribute to country life, the fair
offers visitors a %i.mpse into
the past, which includes
Prater’s Mill itself, Prater’s
Country Store, Shu&,art‘s Cot
ton Gin and the Westbrook
Barn, complete with live farm
animals.
The fair is a auality arts
and crafts show held in the at
mosphere of an old-fashioned
country fair where visitors will
find examples of traditional
crafts such as blacksmithing,
spinning and traditional rug
hooking. Two hundred ex
hibitors from throughout the
United States participate in
the festival.
The food at Prater’s Mill in
cludes homemade soup and
cornbread, cakes, churned ice
cream, fresh fried onion rings,
funnel cakes and, in Prater’s
Store across the road, country
cooking.
Seventeen church dgroups,
civic organizations and school
P.T.A.'s participate in the
diverse activities.
Career Class
A career class and life plan
ning class will be held on three
Thursdays in October at
Walker Tech. It will begin at 5
g.m. Thursdafi', Oct. 16, 23 and
0. Cost of the class is $35.
Terry Sims will be instruc
tor for the class.
