Rossville Blanks Chattooga, 19-0
Rossville hosted the Chat

an groved to be rude hosts as
the Bulldogs defeated the In
dians, 19-0. The Bulldog
defense proved to be the dist

bottled up the Indians all

punt out of their own endzone
which led to two touchdowns
and recovered an Indian fum

drive.
Although the Indians
managed to outgain the
Bulldogs on the ground, the
tribe couldn't sustain a drive.
The Indians were led offensive

Bremen Upends Bulldogs, 21-6
By NOLAN CRISP
The Bremen Blue Devils
scored 14 points in the second
half last Friday night to take
a 21-6 region 6-A victory over
the Trion Bulldogs. The
Bulldogs host another Region
6-A member this Friday as
Bowden comes to town.
Trion started the game with
a big play right off the bat. A
Bremen back was knocked
loose from the ball on the
kickoff and Trion's Derry Mad
dux recovered on the 42 yard
line. Trion wasted little time as
they marched 58 yards in a
straight dive play off the right
side in the veer but wfien
Rossville shut that down the
Indians were in trouble as the
Bulldogs stopped anything
wide.
Defensively the Indians
plaved a better igame. only giv
ing u(f) 135 yards rushing com
rure to 350 yards average the
ast two games. Except for one
drive after recovering a Chat
tooga fumble the %(ossville
drives only covered 27 and 18
yvards.
The Indians took the open
ing kickoff and started a drive
that looked as though they
would be able to move the ball
on the Bulldog defense. They
moved the balffrom their own
30 to the Rossville 33 where
they fumbled. Mark Evans was
the bigsballcarrier on the drive
gaining 7, 11 and 7 yards in the

Maddux ended the drive by
plowing 3 yards into the end
zone. The PAT never got off as
the snap was bad but Trion had
a 6-0 lead with 7:02 to go in the
first quarter.
Bremen came back in the
second quarter with a
touchdown of their own. On
3rd and 10 from Trion's 28, lef
thanded quarterback David
Skippey lofted a pass in the
corner of the endzone to Tony
House for the 6 points. The
pass completed an 8 play 49
vard drive and Bremen had a
drive,
Rossville then took over
and drove the 67 yards in 11
plays to score. Derrick Pullom
got the scoring honors from the
3. The kick was blocked and
the Indians trailed 6-0 with
3:33 left in the first quarter.
Rossville scored again in
the first half with 9:27 left in
the half on a 16 yard run by
Patrick Tory. The pass for the
two point conversion was no
good. The drive started when
an Indian punt out of their own
end zone only traveled 27 yards
and put the Bulldogs in
business at the Indian 27.
Three plays from there they
scored.
The Indians then took the
ensuing kickoff and drove to
the Rossville 28 where they
lost the ball on downs.
After intermission, neither
7-6 lead when Dobby Harris
booted the PAT.
The Blue Devils made the
score 14-6 early in the 3rd
%uurter on a 48 yard Shay
Sweat run and a Harris PAT.
Sweat hit the line and found an
opening and outran the Trion
secondary for the touchdown.
Bremen put the icing on the
cake with 11:53 to go in the
%ame. John Buffington scored
rom 7 yards out on a pitch
play to climax along 9 play 62
yard drive that started in the
third quarter. Harris again was
true on the kick and Bremen
team could move the ball much
with both teams trading punts
and turnovers by the lngians.
In the fourth quarter, the
Indians stopped the Bulldogs
on a fourth and one situation at
the Indian 4. From there, the
Indians were unable to move
the pi%skin and were forced to
Yunt rom the three. Jimmy
.eeth took the punt for the
Bulldogs and returned it 10
vards to the Indian 18. From
there it took 5 plays with
Bradley Crawford scoring from
the one on fourth down. Eric
Hawkins kicked the PAT and
the Indians trailed 19-0.
The Indians took the ensu
ing kickoff and drove from
their own 40 to the Rossville 22
where the drive was stalled due
to an interception.
The Indians journey to Fort
Payne, Ala. this Friday to take
on the Fort Payne squad.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Alabama time.
