Trion First Baptist Church.

united in marriage Saturday
evening, Aug. 23, in a
candlelight ceremong at the
Cathedral of St. Philip in
Atlanta. The Rev. David Alan
l Galloway officiated.
| The bride is the daugfi\ter of
Mrs. Elaine Merrell Tarkenton
and Francis Asbury Tarken
ton, Atlanta. The groom is the
son of Mrs. Jane Langford
Asher, St. Simons Island and
Robert Terry Cordle,
Cartersville. He is the grand
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred T.
Cordle, Summerville.
The bride, escorted by her
father, wore a gown of ivory,
silk satin. The dropped waist
bodice had a scallol;)::d neckline
and was heavily beaded with
pearls, bugle beads and irides
cent sequins. The gown had full
pouf legi o’ mutton sleeves ap
pointe with beaded
medallions of candlelight lace.
The full gathered skirt extend
ed to a cathedral len?h train
and was bordered with a deelp
scalloped hem of lace, bugle
beads and iridescent sequins.
The train was decorated with
beaded, appliqued medallions
of lace. Her ivory illusion veil,
accented with scattered seed
pearls, extended beyond her
train. The veil was secured by
a cglp of pearls and sequins.
he bride carried a large
bou?luet of white gardenias,
stephanotis, cream roses, lilies,
baby’s breath and long satin
streamers of ivory ribbon. She
| carried an antique lace hand
| kerchief which her mother had
| carried in her wedding and had
| been used in family weddings
for generations.
Melissa Merrell Tarkenton,
sister of the bride, was maid of
‘ honor. The bridesmaids were
