Mrs. Dellar Valmer Boyd,
65, Waverly Hall, died Satur
day night in a Phenix City,
Ala., hospital.
Graveside services were
held at 3 p.m. Monday in Gray
Hill Baptist Church gemetery.

officiating.
Survivors include three
daughters, Mrs. Betty Ellen
burg, Summerville, Mrs. Mary
Ann Burgess, West Point and
Mrs. Jeanne Harper,
Douglasville; one son, Eueal
Jenkins, Rome; one sister, Mrs.
Novella Cordle, Jasper, Ala.:
two brothers, Gaines Weaver,
Summerville and Willard Cook,
Jackson, Miss.; six grand
children and two
great-grandchildren.

arrangements.
Jesse Campbell
Jesse Osborn Campbell, 89,
Second Street, Trion, passed
away Saturday morning, Oct.
18, in the local nursing home.
Mr. Campbell was born in
Chattooga Sounty July 27,
1897, son of the late Andrew
Jackson and Mattie Goddard
Campbell. He was retired from
the srinning room of Riegel
Textile Corp. His wife, Bessie
Jane Cole Campbell, died Sept.
19, 1983. Two sons, Wifiie
Campbell, died July 25, 1964
and Andrew Campbell died
Feb. 15, 1983. He was a

at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Rev. Willie Bearden
officiating.
Interment was in West Hill
Cemetery.

Dollie Lane
Mrs. Dollie P. Lane, 92,
Trion Rte. 1, Mountain View
Community, passed away at
12:02 a.m. in ghattooga Coun
ty Hospital.
Mrs. Lane was born in
Chattooga County Oct. 26,
1893, daughter of the late Joe
Payton and Mary Smedley
Payton. She was a retired tex
tile worker, and a member of
the Mountain View Baptist
Church. Her husband, Charlie
G. Lane, died earlier, and a
daughter, Velma Lane, died in
1931.
Surviving are four
daughters, Mrs. Edna Prit
chett and Mrs. Mildred Wilker
son, Trion, Mrs. Alene
McConkey, Summerville and
Mrs. Verna Adams, East
Point; two sons, Robert Lane,
Summerville and Clarence
Lane, Chattanooga, Tenn.; one
sister, Mrs. Hattie Anderson,
Lyerly; 13 grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren; one great
great-grandson; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain
View Baptist Church with the
Revs. Frank Lewis, Clifford
Ownby and Douglas Brandon
officiating.
Interment was in the Trion
Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were
Johnny Pritchett, Rodger
McConkey, Mark Lane,
Charles Lane, Don Purcell,
Robert Purcell and Tony
Fuller.

Maples
The Rev. E. C. Maples, 77,
Bth Street, Trion, passed away
Tuesday afternoon in a Fort
Oglethorpe hospital.
The Rev. Maples was born
in DeKalb County, Ala., April
11, 1909, son of the late Joseph
Ruben and Kemper Henderson
Maples. He was a member of
the East Trion Church of God,
was a retired minister and lab
technician.
His wife, Gertrude Ingle
Maples, died Jan. 17, 1982. A
daughter and son-in-law, Joyce
and Andy Brady, died Aug. 28,
1971.
Surviving are five
daughters, Mrs. Maxine
Blevins, Waverly, Tenn., Mrs.
Audrey Butler, Summerville,
Mrs. Norma Willingham,
Marietta, Mrs. Roxie Greene,
Gadsden, Ala., Mrs. Virginia
Gordon, LaFayette; a ‘:,pecial
friend, Mrs. Bertha Wilson,
LaFayette; one sister, Mrs.
Bonzie Bailey, Jamestown,
Ala.; one brother, Rex Maples,
Jamestown, Ala.; 13 grand
children; 14 great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. today in the East
Trion Church o{ God with the
Revs. James Braddy and Her
man Timms officiating.
Interment will be in West
Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be
grandsons and honorary
pallbearers will be charter
members of the East Trion
Church of God and Mrs. Agnes
Coley and Mrs. Nellie
McWhorter.
They are asked to assemble
at the church at 1:45 p.m.
today.
The body will lie in state
from 1:30 p.m. until time for
services.

Gilbert A. Morgan, 88,
Summerville Rte. 4, Gore com
munity, passed away Sunday
morning, Oct. 19.
Mr. Morgan was born in
Chattooga %ounty Jan. 3,
1898, son of the late A.G.
“Dick’’ and Mary Clark
Morgan. He was a retired
farmer. His previous wife, Vera
Burns Morgan, died earlier.
Mr. Morgan was a Mason.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Ada Morgan; one step
daughter, Mrs. Patty Plumley,
Gainesville, Fla.; two stepsons,
Jerry Bridges, Summerville
and Ted Bridges, Rome; one
sister, Mrs. Maude Snyder,
East Ridge, Tenn.; several
stepgrandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Rev. Glenn Drum
monds officiating.
Interment was in Pleasant
Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bill
Spurgeon, Bill Mitchell,
Thomas Carpenter, George
Doster Jr., J‘;m Doster and

Mrs. Dura Phillips Shrop
shire, 63, Maple Drive, Sum
merville, passed away Tuesday
night, Oct. 14, in a Rome
hospital.
filrs. Shropshire was born
in Harrelson gount Sept. 15,
1923, daughter og, the late
Madison R. and Alva Robinson
Phillips. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church of
Hialeah, Fla. Her husband,
Berry Shropshire, died earlier.
Surviving are her daughter,
Mrs. Jennifer Shropshire Jer
vis, Rome; son, Phillip David
Shropshire, Miami, Fla,; sister,
Mrs. Rachel Eleam, Summer
ville; brother, Thomas Allen
Phillips, Los Angeles, Calif,;
two grandchildren, Tracy Lyn
and Steven David Shropshire;
several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were
held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17,
in Pennville Cemetery with
Allen Phillips officiating.

Grady Swanson
Grady M. Swanson, 61,
Sunset Lane, Summerville,
passed away Wednesday, Oct.
15, in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Swanson was born in
Chattanooga, Tenn., Jan. 15,
1925, son of the late Henry
Franklin Swanson. He was
owner and operator of Swanson
Automotive, Summerville, and
was a veteran of World War 11,
serving in the U. S. Air Force.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Jean gwanson; mother,
Mrs. Ardie Swanson, Summer
ville; son, Malcolm Swanson,
Chickamauga; two grand
children, Michael and Melissa
Swanson,
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the
