GIRLS LOSE IN FINALS
Chattooga Boys Win Rome
Basketball Tournament
The Chattooga High In
dians' victory over the West
Rome Chieftains in the Rome
Holiday Festival basketball
tournament was due primarily
to a boost given the starters by
the second, or ‘dog’’ team, as
well as conditioning.
That's according to basket
ball coach Lamar Turner. His
boys won the chamrrl)ionship
game, 58-54, on the third con
secutive night of play in the
tourney.
Meanwhile, the lady In
dians lost a heart-breaker to
Model High in overtime, 72-70,
to place second in the tourney
in the girl’s division.
“Gosh, that'd be hard to
sal);," Coach Turner said when
asked which individual player
Georgia Offers EZ Return
Several hundred thousand
Georgians will find it very easy
to prepare a 1986 Georgia in
come tax return if they use
Form 500EZ.
State Revenue Commis
sioner Marcus E. Collins said
the Department of Revenue
will make the EZ form
available for preparation of
1986 returns gy single
Geor’%ians.
“The more than 300,000
Georgians who used the form
for the first time during the
last filing season found it very
simple to fill out,”” Commis
sioner Collins recalled. ‘‘The
form only has four lines to fill
out and it can be é)rocessed
guickly, and a refund, if one is
ue, can be quickly dropped in
to the mail.”
Eligible to use the EZ form
are single taxpayers who earn
ed $50,000 or less in 1986,
claim no dependents, do not
itemize deductions, and have
no more than S4OO in earned in
terest during 1986.
“We couldn't make the
Chattooga County High School Indians
Girl Cagers Ready For Basketball Action
contributed most to the cham
pionship. ““We had what you'd
call a real team effort. A lot of
coaches say that but it's true
in our case.”
He pointed out that Chat
tooga's practice jerseys have
“TEAM — No Name' in let
ters on the back.
The Indians have won
“when the leading scorer would
have had but 12 points but
others would have 10 or 12
each, too,”” he said.
In the game against West
Rome, ‘‘our starting team
started out sluggishly and we
got behind but we put in the
‘dog’ team and it ricfied up the
momentum and played the rest
of the first quarter and we were
ahead,” Coach Turner noted.
The ‘‘unselfish effort,” a
form any sims»ler," Mr. Collins
said. ‘““No eligible taxpayer
should have the least bit of dif
ficulty in preparing this
return.”’
Taxpayers can find the
form in the state income tax
packet scheduled to be in the
mail at the end of 1986. The
form also will be available in all
State Revenue Department of
fices and at most banks and
post offices.

“‘pressure defense’ and the In

A lot of coaches will play
only six or seven people In a

which to rest during the tour

“That ‘dog’ team was a big

from falling way behind" in the

said.
The Indians defeated Darl
