Ice, Snow
Possible
In County
Weather forecasters
Wednesday were calling for a
chance of rain, freezing rain,
sleet or snow for the Northwest
Georgia area, including Chat
tooga County.
Whether the expected
precipitation falls in the form
of rain or is frozen will depend
on the temperature range, they
said. Any sleet, snow or freez
ing rain is more likely on moun
taintops or high ridges,
forecasters said.
New Year's Day was ex
pected to see a continuation of
the miserable weather but
skies were expected to be most
3, fair Friday with the mercury
ipping into the 20s or low 30s
at night and rising to the
mid-40s during the day.
Fair weather for New
Year's Day had been forecast
earlier in the week but the Na
tional Weather Service said
Wednesday that alow pressure
storm system appeared to be
getting organized in the Gulf of
Mexico.
So while Chattooga didn't
have a white Christmas, it ap
peared possible Wednesday
that it might have a chance to
have a frozen New Year.
Lint Burning
Lint burning in a wall
heater was extinguished before
the Summerville Fire Depart
ment arrived at the scene
Monday.
Firemen responded to an
alarm at the home of Tony
Eller, Pennville, at 6:34 p.m.
and were back at the station at
6:56 p.m., reports indicated.
