Rube Allmon, 73, Summer
ville Rte. 4, passed away Fri
day at 9:30 a.m. at his
residence.
He was born in Chattooga
County March 31, 1913, son of
the late Roy Clinton Allmon
and Hattie Veatch Allmon. Mr.
Allmon was a retired farmer. A
son, Lee Allmon, died in 1950.
Surviving are his widow,

Sam Cochran
Sam Cochran, 70, Calhoun,
passed away last Friday after
noon in Gordon County
Hospital following a heart
attack.
Mr. Cochran was born May
12, 1917 in Gordon County, son
of the late John and Hattie
Wyatt Cochran. He was a
member of Pleasant Hill Bap
tist Church and was a retired
barber.
Two sisters, Mrs. Ester
Long and Mamie Lou Cochran;
and two brothers, Wood
Cochran and Frank Cochran,
died earlier.
Mr. Cochran is survived by
two sisters, Mrs. Etta
McClung, Trion, and Mrs.
Lena Southerland, Calhoun;
one brother, Lee Cochran,
Summerville; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the
Bradley Anderson Memorial
Chapel of Max Brannon and
Sons Funeral Home with the
Revs. Winfred Casey and
Charles Cornwell officiating.

Century Club and attended the
Trion Church of God of

Presbyterian Church and was
a retired nurseryman.
Surviving are his widow,

Phil Green, Cloudland; grand

ment was in Green Hills
Memory Garden, Summerville.
Mrs. Holliday was born
May 27, 1933, daughter of Mrs.
and the late Mr. W. R. Chap
pelear. She was a graduate of
Menlo High School and
Reinhardt Lgollege, where she
received the Faculty Award for
Excellence, the highest honor
a senior can receive. She was a
member of the Rome First
United Methodist Church, its
Adult Fellowship class, WSCS
and Circle Seven, where she
served as president. She was
the Rome Rotary Club’s
pianist for 10 years.
Survivors include her
widower, Adies Holliday,
Rome; two daughter, Mrs.
Melody Ann Mcfieil. Roswell
and Miss Patricia Ann Holli
day, Rome; two sons, William
Franklin Holliday,
Lawrenceville and Benjamin

passed away at 12:15 a.m.
Thursday, Jan. 1, at home
following an illness of two
months.
Mr. Keef was born in
Georgia, son of the late John
and Mary Holmes Keef. He
was retired as a carpenter and
was a Baptist.

Motorist Dies
An elderly Chattooga Coun
ty man apparently died of
natural causes before his truck
ran off the roadway last Satur
day morning, according to
Earle Rainwater, Chattooga
coroner, and Sgt. Dan Young
of the sheriff’s office.
He was identified as Melvin
Lee Williams, 71, 1422 Dry
Valley Rd., Trion.
Regorts said he was driving
a 1982 pickup truck on Coun
ty Road 245 and ran across
County Road 318 into the yard
of Sidney Dooley, Hair Lake
Road, around 10:45 a.m. before
the vehicle came to a stop.
