Frank Peracchio, 76,
Cloudland, passed away Sun
day morning at his residence
fol{owin an extended illness.
Mr. geracchio was born in
England June 8, 1910, son of
the late Cristoforo and Maria
Ferrando Peracchio.
Graveside services were
held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in
Summerville Cemetery with
Dr. Jack Colwell officiating.
Hill Chapel of Lane Funeral

Subligna community, passed
away Thursday night, gan. 8,
in Oak View Nursing Home.
She was born in Ggeorgia on

both died in 1977. Mrs. Self
was a member and former Sun
da{’ School teacher of the
Subligna Baptist Church.
Surviving are her dau¥hter.
Mrs. June Dawson, Subligna;
grandson. Robert Dawson,
übligna; three sisters, Mrs.
Kate Orr, LaFayette, Mrs.
Anderson Nuchors. Calhoun
and Mrs. Johnnie Gilstrap,
Rocky Face; one brother, Jud
Manning, LaFayette; several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Revs. Ken Johnson
and Jimmy Wilborn
officiating.
Interment was in Summer
ville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were
Harold Scoggins, Howard
Scoggins, Mefvin Plunkett,
Thomas Carpenter, Bobby Lee
Cook Sr. and H. R. Franklin.
Honorary pallbearers were
the staff of Oak View Nursing
Home.

George H. Wagemann, 90,
Summerville Rte. 2, passed
away Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in
Oak View Nursing Home.
Mr. Wagemann was born in
Chicago, Ilf,eDec. 25, 1897, son
of the late George and Bertha
Winkle Wagemann. He was a
retired printer, a veteran of
World War I and a Methodist.
Survivors include one
daughter, Mrs. Walter Bagley,
Summerville; one stepson,
Ralph Belk, Brandenton, Fla.;
local nieces and nephews,
Mildred Vines, J.T. Vines,
Hoyt Vines, Dewey Vines,
James A. Vines and Annie
Ruth Bennett; 12 grand
children; and several
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Monday in the Erwin-
Petitt Funeral Home Chapel
with the Revs. Bobby Harris
and Hoyt Parker officiating.
Interment was in the Penn
ville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were
Butch Young, Gene Bennett,
Ancel Vines, Hoyt Vines, Swan
Earls and Paul Meredith.
Honorary pallbearers were
David Young, Junior Nelson,
Leroy Johnson, Lonnie
Jackson, Ben Johnson, Don

Services for Mrs. Sarah E.
Williams, Vicksburg, Miss.,
were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at
the Ebenezer Baptist ghurch
with the Rev. Tommy Brown
officiating. Burial was in Cedar
Hill Cemetery with Jefferson
Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Williams died Jan. 7
as a result of injuries she
received in a fire at her home
on Dec. 4,
She is survived by her
widower, Leon A, Williams Sr.;
five sons, Henry Barnes Jr.,
Stockholm, Sweden, Byron
Black of the U.S. Army in
Fort Eustes, Va., Stanford
Black and Keith Black, Lyerlf'.

Local Holiday
Most, but not all, govern
mental offices in Chattooga
County will be closed next
Monday in observance of the
birthday of the late Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.
Trion Mayor J. C. Woods
said the city's business office
and maintenance departments
will be closed all day. The Trion
Recreation Department will re
main open, however.
Gargage normally picked
up on Monday will be gicked
up next Tuesday. The schedule
for all other days of next week
will be the same as usual.
For any emergency calls for
the gas department, residents
may call the Trion Police
Department, Woods said.
City of Summerville offices
also will be closed Monday.
Monday's garbage pickup will

Dropped
A $1.25-million lawsuit fil
ed in U. S. District Court at
Rome by a Trion couple in con
nection with a traffic accident
has been settled.
Federal Judge Harold Mur
phy this month signed an order
dismissing the case filed by
Annie Mae Hogue and Richard
H. Hogue Sr., 55 Park Ave.,
Trion, in May, 1986. It had
been filed against Carolina
Western Express Inc., Atlanta
as a result of an accident on
Jan. 22, 1985 on U. S. Highway
27, south of Trion.
A statement signed by the
attorneys for the Hogues and
the trucking company said the
case has “‘been settleg and con
cluded.”

Hogues in the (famage lawsuit.
Terms of the settlement
were not revealed in court
records.

Grease Fire
Damages
Residence
A grease fire on a cooking
stove caused damage to a Sum
merville residence near noon
Monday, according to the Sum
merville Fire Department.
Reports said firemen
responded to the home of
Roscoe Stewart, Hill Street, at
11:53 a.m. and found that the
grease fire had caused damage
to the stove, wall and cabinets
of the house. Firemen were
back on duty at 12:08 p.m.
Minor damage was caused
to the wall around a chimney at
the home of John A. Cundiff,
Back Penn Road, at 2:13 a.m.
Sunday, firemen said. Trucks
were back at the station at 2:45
a.m.
Light damage was caused
to the engine compartment of
a car that caught fire on
Highland Street at Fourth
Avenue at 2:50 p.m. last Fri
day. The fire was caused by an
electrical short circuit in the
alternator, firemen said. The
fire truck was back on duty at
3 p.m.
Summerville Police Sgt.
James Pierce put out a
washing machine fire with the
extinguisher in his car Sunday,
according to reports. The fire
occurred at the home of
Kathleen Smith, State Street,
reports said. The washing
machine was a total loss as a
result of the fire, Pierce added.

immediately set about revising the coun

distributed next Wednesday
and Thursday, Jan. 21 and 22,
at the Chattooga County
Memorial Home by Chattooga
Services (formerly EOA).
The food will be handed out
from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. both

exhausted.
Individuals picking up food
should bring their social securi
ty card. If commodities are be
ing picked up by someone other
than the applicant, an applica
tion/receipt may be picked up
at Chattooga Services offices,

To be eligible for the com
modities, a person's income
must be the same as, or less
than, that shown for household
size per year, per month or per

Tax Deadline Friday
The deadline for paying 1986 property taxes to both the
City of Summerville and Chattooga Cp()unty is 5 p.m. Friday.
In the county, interest of one pegcent per month, or 12 per
cent per year, will be added to unpfii tax bills after that date.
The only other penalty would involve alO percent enalty on
any tax bill of SSOO or more on property without a Eomestead
exemption.
Summerville charges a $1 flat fee plus seven percent an
nual interest on any unpaid taxes.
