75, Gagsden. Ala., passed
away Jan. 14 in a Gadsden nur
sin%flhome.
r. Adams was born in
Chattooga County May 8,
1911, son of the late William
Oscar and Georgia Hancock
Adams. He was a member of
the Berryton Baptist Church,
a veteran of World War 11, ser
ving in the U.S. Army, and
was a retired service station
manager.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Claudia Adams: daughter
and son-in-law, Bonnie and
George Murray, Gadsden: two
sons and daughters-in-law,
Wayne and Jackie Adams,
Kenner, La., and George N.
and Lee Adams, Gadsden; two
sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hum-
R{lre{ and Mrs. Louise Kinsey,
enlo; one brother, Herman
Adams, Menlo; 16 grand
children; 14 great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Saturday in the
chapel of Collier-Butler Funeral

Revs. Don Pilcher and Cecil

ospital.
Mr. Evett was born in Fort
Payne, Ala., May 28, 1908, son
of the late James P. and Laura
Crow Evett. He was a member
of the Church of God and a
retired construction worker.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Annie Evett, Summer
ville; sister, Mrs. Nellie Whit
tle, Tuscumbia, Ala.; brother,
Dewey Evett, Summerville;
three grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were-held
at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Revs. Johnny Helms
and Cindy Ledford officiating.
Interment was in Summer
ville Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary T. Goodridge,
83, Cloudland, passed away at
7:10 p.m. Saturday in Oak
View Nursing Home.
Mrs. Goodridge was born
May 4, 1903, in Cherokee
County, Ala., daughter of the
late Will and Julie Rice Hamp
ton. She was a retired textile
worker and a member of the
Highland Avenue Baptist
Church. Her husband, James
Sammuel Goodridge, died
earlier. ;

Clayton Harvey Hess, 83,

away Monday afternoon in
Oak View Nursing Home.
Mr. Hess was born in
Michigan June 23, 1903, son of
the late Harvey and Myrtle
Price Hess. He was a member
of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church and was retired from
the public relations Depart
ment of the California
Highway Patrol.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Edith Hess; two
daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ware,
Indiana and Mrs. Virginia
Felch, California; one son,
Richard Hess, California; one
sister, Mrs. Dorothy Kinsey,
Indiana; two brothers, Donaf:i
Hess and John Hess, Indiana;
several grandchildren; nieces
and nephews.

at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the

A skeleton found on Sand
Mountain in Alabama ap
arently is not that of Annette
gampbell Dodd, 26, 2 Elm St.,
Summerville, uccordingi,to the
Chattooga County eriff's
Office.
The remains of a female
clad only in %antyhose were
found of}; Alabama HiEhway
68 amid undergrowth and
honeysuckle vines last week,
Chattooga authorities im
mediately began checking to
see if they were the remains of
Mrs. Dod};l, who has been miss
ing since April 20, 1986.
Rings found with the re
mains were not those Mrs,
Dodd was last seen wearing,
reports indicated.
A spokesman for the
sheriff's office said Wednesday
the remains may have been
identified as those of an
Alabama woman.
