Lady Indians
Win 3 Games

The Chattooga High Lad
Indians finished a perfect wee[vx
with a win over LaFayette
Tuesday night.
Last Thursday, the Lady
Indians defeated Cedartown,
65-37 and on Friday, they
triumphed over Villa Rica by
10 points, 82-72. Then they
beat LaFayette 67-43.
The Lady Indians’ record
now is 12-3. In the sub-region,
they are 11-0. The last regular
season game will be played
next Saturday at home against
Rossville.
VILLA RICA
The Lady Indians scored
reasonably high in each of the
quarters against Villa Rica,
save for the last one, in which
they only amassed nine points.
In the first period, the Chat
tooga team reached a game
high of 29 points. Tracey Perry
threw in lfof those points, and
Angelique Finley accounted for
eight.
Villa Rica held the Laay In
dians to 20 points in the second
Buarter of play. Angelique led
hattooga with six points in
that period. At the end of the
first half, the Lady Indians had
scored a total of 49 points.
Angelique pumped in 12
f)oints in the third quarter,
eading the Lady Indians to 24
points in that quarter.

The Chattooga High School
boys basketball team lost two
of three games last week.
The Indians lost to Cedar
town last Thursday night, in a
close game, 53-50. Villa Rica
defeated Chattooga on Friday,
94-81, but the Indians finished
off the week with a win, down
ing LaFayette, 75-74 in a last
second effort.
The Indians’ record is now
12-7. They are 4-6 in sub-region
play. Chattooga finishes its
regular season at home this
Saturday against Rossville.
BULLDOGS
The Indians and Bulldogs
were close for virtually all of
the contest, and although
Cedartown had the lead for t%le
majority of the game, it was
never by very much.
In the first quarter, the
Bulldogs led the Indians by
three points, holding the Chat
tooga team to nine points,
whi%e scoring 12 themselves.
Andre Groce had four points to
lead the Indians, ang Daniel
Brown scored six for host
Cedartown.

The Trion High School boys
basketball team was defeated
by the Chattanooga Valley
Eagles last Friday night, 73-51.
The Bulldogs' record is 1-12.
Chattanooga Valley had the
lead for most of the game,
although the Bulldogs were
close behind until late in the
contest.
The Eagles led in the first
quarter of play, 19-12. The two
teams tied, though, in the se
cond period witfix 16 points
each. At the end of the first
half, the score was 35-28, in
Chattanooga Valley's favor.
Trailing by seven points go
ing into the third quarter,
Trion reentered the game hop
ing to take the lead. The
Bulldogs trailed by just five
points in that third period, but
in the fourth quarter, the
Eagles destroyea any hope
Trion had of winning the game,
scoring 23 points, while allow
ing the Bufidogs 10. The final
score was 73-51, Chattanooga
Valley winning by 22 points.
“We played well,” Trion
coach Ron W);Jliams said. *'But
they hit a long shot at the end
of the third quarter, and that
hurt.”

scoring with 24 points.

and led throughout, despite the
fact that they never scored
more than 20 points in any one
quarter.
In the first period, Chat
tooga dropped in 15 points, six
of which came from Angelique
Finley. The Lady Indians
scored 16 in the second
quarter; six of the points were
provided by Valerie Langston.
The visiting Lady Indians had
31 points at the end of the half.
The host Lady Bulldogs
again held the Chattooga team
to 15 points in the third
quarter. Tracey Perry led the
Lady Indians’ scoring with six
points. Then in the fourth
quarter, Chattooga tallied a
scoring peak of 19 points.
At the end of a one-sided
game, the Lady Indians emerg
ed with the win, 65-37.

five points for Cedartown. As
the half came to an end, Chat
tooga was trailing, 29-17.
In the second half, the In
dians began to make strides
toward gaining the lead. They
began %Jy outscoring the
Bulldogs 17-10 in the third |
quarter. That brought them |
within five points oig the lead. |
However, as the game went |
down to the wire in the fourth |

which was not enough to win |
the game. The Bullgogs only |
scored 14 points themselves, |
but it was all they needed to |
seal the victory. They won by |
a three-point margin, 53-50. |

25-17, with Mac Perry, Travis |
Jones, and Vance Farmer scor- |
ing two baskets each for the |
visiting Chattooga team. When |
the first half enged, Villa Rica |
was ahead, 47-38. .
Villa Rica added 30 points |
to their score in the third
quarter, allowing the Indians
only 18. Theron Finley scored
three field goals to lead Chat
tooga. The score at the close of
the third period was 77-56.
The Indians attempted a
comeback in the last quarter, |
outscoring their opposing
team, 25-17. However, Villa |
Rica still had enough of a lead
to win, 94-81. |
Chattooia's scoring drive
was capped by Mac Perry, who |
led all scoring, with 25 points. |

Lady Bulldogs were downed )
73-51 by Chattanooga Valley
last Friday night. |
The Lady Bulldogs fell
behind early on in the game,
and could never stage a
comeback.
Trion accumulated nine
points in each of the first two
quarters, to the Lady Eagles’
17 and 24 points. When the
halftime buzzer sounded, the
host team was leading, 35-18.
The Lady Bulldogs scored
only ten total points in the se
cond half, whfie Chattanooga
Valley tallied 38. The final
score was 73-51.
Terri Culpe;}per was the
high scorer for Trion, with 13
points for the game. Sharon
Williams pumged in 23 points
for the Lady Eagles.
