DEATHS
Rites Held For
Dr. W. U. Hyden
Funeral services for Dr.
William Ulysses Hyden, a
lo:gtime Chattooga County
medical, civic and business
leader who died Feb. 4, were
held at 2 p.m. last Friday at
Trion United Methodist
Church with the Revs. Michael
D. Woods and Harvey Boyd of
ficiatirle. Interment was in
West Hill Cemetery.
Dr. Hyden died at his
residence, 11 Simmons St.,
Trion.
He began the practice of
medicine in Trion in 1938 and
retired in 1977. Dr. Hyden was
son of the late Wiliam U. and
Sylvia Yearly Hyden. He was
born in Barbourville, Ky., but
moved to Ohio at an ear{y age.
He was a graduate of 519
University of West Virginia
and the University of Arkan
sas, where he earned his doctor
of medicine degree. He intern
ed at Erlanger Hospital, Chat
tanooga, Tenn., before moving
to Trion in 1938. He was a
member of Trion United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his
widow, Betty Katherine Erwin
Hyden; daughter and son-in
law, Debbie and Rick Camp;
son and daughter-in-law, Bill
and Camilla Hyden; mother-in
law, Mrs. George D. Erwin;
three grandsons, William U.
“Will'" Hyden 111, Joseph
Franklin Hyden and Richard
Ross Camp, Trion; several
nieces and nephews.

K:ssed away Feb. 5 in Floyd
edical Center, Rome.
She was a member of the
West Fifth Street church of
Christ, and widow of the late
Frank Farmer Sr.
Survivors are four
daughters, Miss Margaret
Farmer, Mrs. Mae Christopher,
Mrs. Ossie Bell Wheeler and
Mrs. Carolyn Bradley; two
sons, Larry Farmer and Lewis
Farmer; mother, Mrs. Mary
Lou Gober, Summerville; one
brother, Willie Gober, Monroe;
17 grandchildren; 13 great
grandchildren; six step
grandchildren; daughters and
sons-in-law; brot%ners and
sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles;
nieces; nephews; cousins and
other relatives.
Funeral servics were held at
2 p.m. Monday in the West
Figh Street church of Christ
with Ministers J. J. Bankston
and F. A. Geeter officiating.
Interment was in Summer
ville Cemetery.
The ladies Bible class serv
ed as flowerbearers.
Pallbearers were Joe
Johnson, Roy Evans, Leonard
Avery, Lee O. Mahue and
Samuel Black Jr.

Ruby Gass
Mrs. Ruby Bohanan Gass,
70, Roseway Circle, ‘Summer
ville, passed away Jan. 30 in a
Rome hos(gital.
Mrs. Gass was born in
Chattooga County March 19,
1916, daughter of the late
Samuel Thomas and Nellie
Ann Underwood Bohanan. She
was a member of the Summer
ville First Baptist Church for
56 years. Her husband, Hur
shaf C. Gass, died Sept. 10,
1986.
Surviving are one sister,
Mrs. Helen B. Overstreet,
Summerville; one brother, Hill
W. Bohanan, Summerville;
three nephews, Barry W.
Bohanan, Greenville, S.C.,
Robert Overstreet, Summer
ville and Wayne Eubanks,
Augusta; three great nieces,
Carrie and Rachel Bohanan
and Angela Eubanks.
Graveside services were
held at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 in Sum
merville gemetery with Dr.
Jack Colwell officiating.
Active pallbearers were

McGuire, Harry Joe Gass,
Guinn Hankins, Howard
Eubanks and Lann Cordle.

Jamie Greeson
Mrs. Jamie Crane Greeson,
Trion, passed away Feb. 5, sud
denly at her home.
A native of Chattooga
County, she was the daughter
of the late Emadeen B. and
Taylor B. Crane. A former
employee of TVA, Chat
tanooga, Tenn., she moved to
Washington, D.C., in 1956
where she entered service with
the U.S. Department of
Agriculture. In FQ'II. she mov
ed to Nashville, Tenn., where
she transferred to the U.S.
Treasury Department, remain
ing there until her retirement
in 1979. Prior to retirement she
had been a Communicant of
Christ Episcopal Church,
Nashville.
Her first husband, Charles
Leroy Johnson, died in action
in World War 11.
She is survived by her hus
band, Thomas J. Greeson; two
sisters, Mrs. Hester Ruth
Coker, LaFayette and Mrs.
Velma Plunkett, Trion; two
nieces, Mrs. Carolyn Coker
Gilreath, LaFayette and Mrs.
Jenith Plunkett Lowrance,
Trion.
Funeral services were held
at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the
Hill Chapel of Lane Funeral
Home.
Interment was in West Hill
Cemetery.
Claude Hamilton
Claude Hamilton, 78, Sum
merville Rte. 3, passed away
Tuesday morning in a Rome
hospital.
Mr. Hamilton was born in
Henagar, Ala., Oct. 14, 1908,
son of the late George and
Ester Horton Hamilton. He
was a retired textile loom fixer.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Ocia Hamilton; three
daughters, Mrs. Linda
Hargraves and Mrs. Della
Graham, Anderson, S. C., and
Mrs. Thelma Faye Kirkley,
Atlanta; four sons, Herman
Hamilton and William
Hamilton, Summerville,
Herbert Hamilton, LaFayette,
and Doyce Hamilton, %rion;
two sisters, Mrs. Felis Avans
and Mrs. Izora McKin,
LaFayette; 35 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
at 3:30 p.m. today in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Rev. Melvin Bridges
officiating.
Interment will be in Sum
merville Cemetery.

Gordon W. “Runt" Kinsey,
78, Trion Rte. 1, Mountain
View Communifi'. passed away
at 4:35 am. Monday at his
residence.
He was born in Chattooga
County Sept. 29, 1908, son of
the late Jessie Roland Kinsey
and Kitty Lou Fugatte Kinsey.
Mr. Kinsey was a retired tex
tile worker and a member of
the East Trion Church of God.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Jessie Peppers Kinsey;
one daughter, Mrs. Joyce
Garner, Allegan, Mich.; seven
sons, Bill Kinsey, East Detroit,
Mich., Carl Kinsey, Detroit,
Mich., Tommy Kinsey, Clat
skani, Ore., 5 immy ¥(insey.
Atlanta, Donnie Kinsey,
Rossville, Ronnie Kinsey and
Ken Kinsey, Summerville;
three sisters, Mrs. Maggie
Parker, Rome, Mrs. Milgred

tanooga, Tenn.; 23 grand
children; 16 great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 &m. Wednesday in the
East Trion Church of éod with
the Revs. Herman Timms and
Cecil B. Wooten officiating.
Interment was in Green
Hills Memory Garden.
Active pallbearers were
grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were
the Men's Bigle Class of the
East Trion Church of God.

den, 89, Lyerly, passed away
Jan. 29 in a LaFayette nursing
home.
Mrs. McFadden was born in
Bridgeport, Ala., March 26,
1897, (filughter of the late An
drew and Nellie Johnson. She
was a retired telephone
operator. Her hus%and.
William R. McFadden, died
earlier. Mrs. McFadden was a
member of the Lyerly Church
of Christ.
Surviving are several
nieces.
Funeral services were held
Jan. 31 in the Hill Chapel of
Lane Funeral Home with
Ministers Roger Jones and
Brian Welschel officiating.
Interment was in New
Hope South Cemetery.

floyd Pritchett
Floyd A. Pritchett, 73,
Ridge Street, Menlo, passed
away Feb. 4 in Redmond Park
Hospital.
He was born in Cherokee
County, Ala., July 31, 1913,
son of the late Dan Pritchett
and Allie Tucker Pritchett. Mr.
Pritchett was retired after 43
fiears service with the
ridgeman crew of Southern
Railroad. He was a member of
the Brotherhood of
Maintenance Way Employees
Union and was a Baptist.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Lora W. Pritchett, Menlo;
two daughters, Mrs. Shirley
Goodridge and Mrs. Joyce
Brown, lfienlo; one son, Wayne
Pritchett, Menlo; two sisters,
Mrs. Lorene Rudolph,
Johnsonburg, Penn., and Mrs.
Lucille Wig%e , Fort Payne,
Ala.; two brotKers, M. L. Prit

Pritchett, Fayetteville, N. C.;
eight grandchildren; five great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.

last Friday at 2 p.m. in the
chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral
Home with the Rev. Kenny
Roach officiating.
Interment was in Green
Hills Memory Garden.

Leroy Reynolds
Leroy (Jake) Reynolds Sr.,
63, Aldred Street, Summer
ville, died Jan. 27 in Chattooga
County Hospital.
Mr. Reynolds was born in
Chattooga County Dec. 7,
1923. He was a retired
carpenter and a veteran of
World War 11. He was son of
the late Archie Lee and Ada
McGuire Reynolds. His wife,
Linda Shirle%' Reynolds, died
Jan. 26, 1987.
Surviving are five
daughters, Mrs. Stella Yvonne
Bice, Mrs. Dorothy Mann and
Mrs. Helen Wade, Summer
ville, Miss Shela Marie
