A new practice field for Little League filayers was be
ing readied for play late last week at the Summerville
Recreation Department’s Bolling Road comilex. The Ci
ty Council Monday night named the field in honor of the
late Kenneth Mitchell, a former Chattooga High baseball
coach and assistant football coach who died last sum
WRITTEN IN MEMORY OF LARRY WOFFORD,
Who Passed Away 13 Years Ago March 10
By HIS “LITTLE SISTER”
There once stood a prison wall
That no one else could see
It's walls were dark and high
And kept a mind from being free
The prisoner was my brother
But I never was able to know
Very much about the prison
That had been his life long foe
Much of his life he lived in a valley
With depths that we never knew
But at times he climbed all the way to the top
And watched the sun come shining through.
I wish he could have told me
And many times he may have tried to
So I have written this in his memory
Because I think he would have wanted me to
There were many things in life
That he had tried so hard to be
And there were places and special people
That he had wanted so much to see.
He would want the world not to forget
That he lived and loved, and laughed and cried
And that he had many hopes ang dreams
That can’t stop just because he died.
I think he'd want the world to understand
That life is always worth the living
And that you can always find a way
If you'll keep trying and keep believing.
I think he'd want to tell the world
You may have to take one day at a time
And though today may bring stormy clouds
Another (fay soon will bring sunshine.
I feel I've said what he would want to say
To those he held most dear
And because of this maybe someone will see
Past mistakes grow dimmer year by year.
And though his life as we knew it then is gone
I remember him now as I did then
Larry was more than just a brother
He was my good friend.

Tops At Reinhardt
At Reinhardt College, stu
dent athletes are excelling both
in the classroom as well as the
sports arena. That fact was
made clear by the fact that six
participants in the College’s in
tercollegiate basketbafi pro
gram maintained perfect 4.0
averages —the highest possi
ble on a four point grading
scale — while also playing their
spot during Fall Quarter. In
addition, several others were
on the Dean's List. .
Among these straight A
students is Trion resident Jen
nifer Greeson, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Cotton Greeson. Jen
nifer is a manager for the
Reinhardt College Eagles and
Lady Eagles basketball team.
She is just one example of
Reinhardt College’'s emphasis
on excellence in the classroom
as well as the playing field.
“The student athlete is cen
tral to our sports philosophy,”
said Kyle Smith, Reinhard‘l‘s
director of Recruitment and
Promotions. “When we started
the intercollegiate basketball
program here we intended it for
those people on our campus
who were successful as
students.”
Smith added that as the
grogram has grown, Reinhardt
as developed a recruiting gro—
gram for athletes designed to
attract high school athletes
who excelled in the classroom
as well as they did on the
basketball court.
The level of success of this
program could be seen in the
academic and athletic success
of the teams over the last five

years. Both men’'s and
women’s basketball teams
have maintained an overall
grade %oint average higher
than that of the average
student.
*‘ln our sports program to
day, the good student is the
rule and not the exception,”
said Smith.
