Eight people, including a

under the influence of intox
icants (DUI) during the past
week, according to rocor(g at
the Chattooga County Jail.
They were:

with driving on the wrong side
of the road and failing to have
a license on her person; Robert
Bryan Hunter, 22, address not

ed with having a vehicle with
defective equipment and driv
ing on a suspended license;

Optimists urge all citizens cooperation
March Designated
Clean-Up Month
March has been designated
as Project Clean-Up Month in
Chattooga County by the
Summerville-Trion Optimist
Club. The local club yearl
designates the month of Klarcl‘;
to urge citizens to clean-up,
spruce-up their own property
as well as public property near
their homes and businesses.
According to project chair
man Charles Farrar, ““We urge
and need the full cooperation of
all citizens of Chattooga Coun
ty to helr beautify the county
for ourselves, tourists who visit
our county and prospective in
dustry.”
Citizens are urged by the
club to use dumpsters that the
county furnishes. If the dump
sters are filled, please take your

Registration for the kindergarten program
of Trion City Schools for 1987-88 will be
held on March 26th and 27th from 1:00 un
til 3:00 at the kindergarten building.
Parents are asked to bring the official,
numbered birth certificate for proof of
age. If immunization has been completed,
correct form can be turned in; otherwise,
parent needs to contact the health depart
ment. To be eligible for kindergarten, a
child must be five years old before or on
September Ist, 1987. Students are re
quired to have adequate immunization
records and eye, ear, and dental records.

Financial Counseling Seminar
A number of local residents participated in a training
seminar for financial counselors last week at the
Farmers and Merchants Bank. The class was taught by
Dr. Esther Maddox, Extension specialist and sponsored
by the Chattooga County Cooperative Extension Ser
vice. Panel members include Sam Freeman, Betty
Wollstein, Mary Humphrey and Ralph Van Pelt Jr.
Counselors were Beverly F. Brown, F. A. Geeter,
Carolyn Johnston, Tom Russell, Pam Echols, Ken
Johnson, William Harris, Euna Belle Geeter, Amanda
Presley, JoAnn Crider, Joyce Green, Paula London,
