During Open House Sunday Afternoon
Authority Meeting
Set For Monday
The Chattooga County
Hospital Authority is expected
to consider new room rates at
its March meeting next
Monday.
The panel will meet at 6:30
p.m. at The Round Table.
At its February meeting,
Authority members reviewed
the rates of similar-sized
hosgitals. They discussed the
need for increasini the facili
ty's revenues, which have been
down since the loss of two
physicians from the
community.
The board is also expected
to review Sunday's open house
at the hospital and Bak View

Police Probe
$2,000 Theft
Summerville police are in
vestigating a burglary last Fri
day night that resulted in the
theft of some $2,000 worth of
electrical equipment and tools.
Officer Monroe Mathis said
the theft occurred at the sh‘g;)
of Paulie Brown, 506 W.
Washington Ave. Reports said
Brown %ad forgotten to lock
the door to the shop.
Listed as missing were
hammers, drill, power saw,
electrical wall boxes, socket
set, bathroom light, assorted
tools, scrap wire and electrical
equipment.
A 14-year-old juvenile was
caught at Black and Meek Mill
ing Co., 100 Oil Mill Rd., last
Saturday and turned over to
police. Refiorts said the
goungster ad entered the
uilding through a rear door
and had been stealing soft
drinks. He was taken to the
Rome Youth Development
Center, said officers Rick
Van Pelt and Sgt. Marfl
Underwood.

Hospital for injuries to his ear

In Mishap
Four people were hurt in a
one-car acci(l:ant on Chattooga
County Road 47 10 miles south
of Summerville Tuesday mor
ning, according to Trooper
Karen Pace og the Georgia
State Patrol.
Listed as hurt were William
Darren Johnson, 19, Ranger
Rte. 1, driver of the 1986 vehi
cle; Donnie Brown, 16, Willis
Wade Jr., 17, and Richie
Smith, 19, all of Calhoun.
Trooper Pace said Johnson
reported that a deer ran in
front of him and when he
swerved to avoid a collision, his
car struck a bump in the road,
became airborne and crashed
nto a tree.
The injured were taken to
Floyd Medical Center, Rome.
I'he mishap occurred at 5:30
a.m.

last Sunday, said officer
Van Pelt. Police have four
suspects in the case, including
one juvenile. No warrants had
been obtained by Beene as of
near noon Wednesday.
A Summerville woman was
arrested last Saturday at
Hurley’'s Food Center, and
charged with shoplifting in
connection with missing
cigarettes, said officer Van Pelt.
She was identified as Pauline
Rosa Laney, 37, 303 Bittings
Ave. She was later released on
SSOO bond.
