Mrs. Kate Barrett Bowers,
63, 83 Bth St., Trion, passed
away Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in
Oak View Nursing Home.
She was born in Chattooga
County April 22, 1922,
daughter of Sle late W. C. Bar
rett and Clever Warren Bar
rett. She was a retired textile
worker and a member of the
Welcome Hill Baptist Church.
A son, Jimmy Hogue, died in
1958.
Surviving are her widower,
James Bowers, Trion; one
daughter, Mrs. Linda
Smithson, Marietta; one son,
Richard Hogue Jr., Trion; two
sisters, Mrs. Judy Bingham,
Summerville and Mrs. Annette
Spears of Berryton; one
brother, Johnny Barrett,
Warner Robins; two grand
sons, Michael Smithson and
Cord Hogue; several nieces and
nephews.
Graveside services will be
held at 2 p.m. today at West
Hill Cemetery with the Revs.
Jim Cordell and Jimmy Bryant
officiating.
Active pallbearers will be
Robert Warren, Austin Warren
Jr., Todd Spears, Gaines
Bowers, Butcfi Barrett and
Dee Spears.

away March 18 in Redmond
Park Hospital.
He was born in Haralson
County March 17, 1904, son of
the late James David Bowling
and Charlotte Jordan Bowling.
Mr. Bowling was a member of
the East Trion Church of God
and an automaker. His wife,
Ida Kilgore Bowling, died Nov.

at 11 a.m. last Saturday in the
East Trion Church of God with
the Revs. Herman Timms and
Douglas Maxwell officiating.

Cemetery.

Leon Coley and Hoyt Ramey.

Gladston Paul Bryant, 69,
Huntsville, Ala., formerly of
Fort Payne, Ala., passed away
March 17 in Jofinson City,
Tenn., hospital following an ex
tended illness.
Mr. Bryant was born in
DeKalb County, Ala., Feb. 4,
1918, son of the late Wiley
Avery and Ester Dean Bryant.
He was a retired upholster and
was a veteran of World War 11.
Surviving are his former
wife, Mrs. Edith Bryant, Fort
Payne; three daughters, Mrs.
Barbara Clark, Fort Payne,
Mrs. Doris Burnett, Lebanon,
Tenn., and Mrs. Dorothy Ken
nedy, Gurley, Ala.; five sons,
David Russell Bryant, Fort
Payne, Gary Paul Bryant, Ir
vine, Calif., Odis Lewis Bryant,
Rainsville, Ala., Rick Bryant,
Summerville, and Micky
Bryant, Fort Payne; one sister,
Mrs. Gladys Whittle, Summer
ville; several grandchildren;
great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews.
Graveside services were
held at 11 a.m. (CST) Friday at
Town Creek Cemetery,
Rainsville with the Rev. Jim
Griffin officiating.

Payne, Ala., had charge of

Donald E. Cook Sr., 40,
Trion Rte. 2, passed away
March 18 in a Fort Oglethorpe
hospital.
Mr. Cook was born Nov. 20,
1946 in Walker County, son of
the late Hilton and Flora Ban
dy Cook. He was a member of
the Welcome Hill Baptist
Church and was employed by
the Public Works Department,
City of LaFayette.
A sister, Margaret Ann
Walker, died earlier.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Josephine Cook; two
daughters, Lori Cook and Kel-
lg Cook, Trion; one son, Donald
. Cook Jr., Trion; stegmother.

day morning at his residence
after an extended illness.
Mr. Kennett was born in
Chattooga County Oct. 10,
1970. His mother, Mary
Elizabeth Dye Kennett, and a
brother, Durando S. Kennett,
died earlier.

Ben Lively, 72, Summer
ville Rte. 2, Pennville com
munity, passed away March 17
at 5:15 a.m. in Redmond Park
Hospital.

County Oct. 10, 1914, son of
the late Lother Lively and
Mary Lou Owens Livefy. He
was a retired construction
worker and a Baptist.
Surviving are his widow,

brother, James Lively, Sum-
merville; several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held

James Henry ‘‘Red Rock”
McClellan, 58, 211 Highland
Ave., Summerville, passed
away March 18 at 5:15 am. in
Chattooga County Hospital.
He was born in Chattooga
County Sept. 22, 1928, son of
the late Marvin McClellan Sr.
Mr. McClellan was an
emfiloyee of the Georgia Rug
Mill, a veteran of World War
11, and a member of the Spring
Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Mary Sue McClellan,
Summervifi'e; two daughters,
Ms. Linda McClellan, Summer
ville, Mrs. Diana Ford,
LaFayette; two sons, Tommy
McClellan, Berryton, and Ben
jamin M. McClellan, Summer
ville; mother, Mrs. Annie
McClellan, Calhoun; one
brother, Marvin McClellan Jr.,
Summerville; one sister, Mrs.
Anna Faye Davis, Calhoun;
four grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews.

Pennville community, passed
away Saturday at 12:45 p.m. in
a Rome hospital.
Mrs. Parf:er was born April
30, 1926 in Chattooga County,
daughter of the late John Grif
fin Young. She was an
employee o?Best Manufactur
ir:fi Co., a member of the Penn
ville Christian Alliance Church
and the Eastern Star. A
daughter, Kaye Lorraine
Parker, died Aug. 8, 1961, and
her husband, Lester ‘‘Flash”
Parker, died Nov. 26, 1968.
Survivors include her
mother, Mrs. Mattie Lou
Young, Armuchee; two
brothers, Larlg' Dale Young,
Armuchee and David Steve
Young, Calhoun; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Monday in the Penn
ville Alliance Church, with the
Revs. Daniel Tanner and Cecil
Hixon officiating.
Interment was in West Hill
Cemetery.

Carl Wilson Reynolds, 68,
102 Ala. St., Trion, passed
away March 18 in Floyd
Medical Center.
He was born in Chattooga
County Jan. 6, 1919, son of tfie
late Henry Reynolds and Alice
Caldwell Reynolds. He was a
retired textile worker, member
of the Church of God and a
member of the Riegel Quarter
Century Club.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Dot %leynolds. Trion;
three sons, Freddy Lee
Reynolds and HugK Don
Reynolds, Atlanta, and
Jeremiah Reynolds, Trion; one
daughter, Mrs. Shelba Jean
Tidwell, Rome; two brothers,
Clarence Reynolds, Haines,
Fla., and Albert Reynolds of
Trion; one stepson, Steve
Teems, Summerville; one step
daughter, Mrs. Linda Brown,
Villanow; 12 grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
The body of Mr. Reynolds
has been donated to Emory
University for medical
research. No memorial services
will be held at this time.

Mrs. Evelyn Kellett
Stephenson, 80, 507 East
Washington St., Summerville,
passed away March 18 in a
Rome hospital.
Mrs. gtephenson was a
great-granddaughter of Demp
sey Rivers, a pioneer of Chat
tooga County, and daughter of
the late Gordon H. and Lillie
Rivers Kellett. She was born
Aug. 17, 1906. She was a
Methodist. Mrs. Stephenson
was one of this area's
historians’ specializing in the
history and genealogy of Chat
tooga County.

Stephenson Meacham and
Mrs. Betty Rivers Dobbs; one
son, Charles Clifford Stephen

Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Rev. Charles Hendrix
officiating. -
Interment was in Summer
ville Cemetery.
