Approximately 450 attend
ed the second Fah Sah Lah Cah
Lo music festival at the Rev.
Howard Finster's Paradise
Garden in Pennville last
Sunday.
The music festival was
organized by the Shaking Ray
Levi Society, based in Chat
tanooga, Tenn.
The festival showcased a
varietg' of music and musicians
including Derek Bailey, a
fiuitarist from England and
ob Dombrowski, a bag pipe
player from New York.
FINSTER
Finster took to the stage
and played his banjo and sang
for the crowd. Afterwards he
used the remainin%J portion of
his time to talk about salva
tion. Finster also told of his
love for everyone who comes
into his garden. He continued
and preached that pe(g)le are
not %ut on earth to judge one
another. The crowd listened in
tently while he spoke.
Julian Norwood, manager
of the Shaking Ray Levi Socie
ty, said the fiestival was suc
cessful ‘‘in the process of the
event itself.” T%ere was also
the Eoint of introducing people
to the unusual combination of
music and to Finster and his
garden. Norwood said one of
the nicest compliments he
received regarding the music
festival came from Bailey, who
said, ‘“The festival was the
most extraordinary music
festival I have ever seen.”
ANNUAL EVENT
There are some plans to
make the music festival an an
nual event, which was made
possible through volunteer
work, added Norwood.
He would like to see the
next Pennville music festival
grow to be a bigger communi
ty event and grow to be a ma
jor Southeastern music event,
Norwood said.
Bus Bid Opening
Bids will be received at 8
p.m. next Monday on eight
surplus vehicles by the Chat
tooga County Board of
Education.
The vehicles include six
buses and two automobiles.
