Democratic Conference will be
held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at
the Rome Skytop Holiday Inn.
The session will begin at 9
a.m. and conclude at 1:15 p.m.

The conference will cover
several issues, including coun
ty Democratic committees,
fund-raising, turning out the

Up Slightly
Chattooga County'’s
unemployment rate increased
only slightly during August,
accordin% to greliminary
reports from the Georgia
Department of Labor.
The August rate was listed
at 5.5 percent, up from a final
Julfi rate of 5.4 percent. The
gre 'minardy rate for July had
een listed at 5.3 percent.
This year's August figures
were much better than for
August, 1986, when the jobless
rate was 9.9 percent.
A total of 8,125 people was
listed as being employed in
August, compared with 8,069
in July and 8,116 in August,
1986.
The number of jobless was
476 in August, 465 in July and
