Five Get Promotions
At Farmers, Merchants
Five promotions were
recently made at the Farmers
and Merchants Bank in
Sumimerville.
Rebecca Lively has been
romoted to comptroller,
f(aren Tanner has been pro
moted to auditor, Scott Tucker
has been promoted to assistant
vice president, Steve Anderson
has been promoted to assistant
banking officer and Phil Stowe
has been promoted to assistant
banking officer.
Mrs. Lively joined the bank
in 1972 as secretary and was
romoted to auditor in 1979,
l§he has earned a Foundations
of Banking Diploma through
the American Institute of
Banking. She attended the
Bank Administration Institute

stitute of Banking. Steve is a

Stowe joined the bank in
1984 as a teller. In 1985 he
transferred to the operations
and accounting department.
He is presently manager of the

aB. A. degree from Berry Col
lege, Rome and has successful

Bankiné. Heis a 1987 graduate
of the Georgia Bankers Assn.

Checks totaling more than S3OO were
presented to the local and transient care
chairmen of the Chattooga County
Ministerial Association recently. The pro
ceeds came from the Festivafil of Trees
%isslay in the Commerce Street First
ederal S&L Assn. building in Summer
ville. The event was chaired by Edythe
Smith Named To Panel
J. B. Smith, veterans af
fairs officer for the Georgia
Department of Veterans Af
fairs, has been named to the na
tional Veterans of Foreign
Wars Americanism
Committee.
He was named by Earl L.
Stock Jr., commander-in-chief
of the national VFW.
Smith, Adairsville, serves
the Chattooia County area and
often attends meetings of Post
6688, VFW, at the Chattooga
Memorial Home.
In announcing the appoint
ment, Stock said that Smith's
*record of service and achieve
ment to both the nation and
the VFW were the key con
siderations in making the selec
tion.”
The National Americanism
Committee is responsible for
establishing goals and objec
tives for the VFW for the
1987-88 administrative year.
