Oak View Pact
Signing Tuesday
The signing of a cons’ ruc
tion contract for a 63-bed addi
tion to Oak View Nursing
Home has been scheduled for
next Tuesday.
The Chattooga Hospital
Authority, which administers
the nursing home, had hoped
that a contract could be sign
ed late last week or this week.
However, apparent confu
sion by Rome architect M. G.
Turner over whether the
Farmers Home Administration
(FmHA) would allow the con
tract to be signed immediate
ly resulted in the delay, an
Xuthority spokesman said.
Hospital officials checked with
Joiner Smith of the FmHA on
Tuesday and the go-ahead was
given to sign the document.
TRI-CITY
The Authority on May 26
had awarded the contract for
the expansion to Tri-City Con
struction Co. Inc., LaFayette.
The firm had submitted a low
bid of $1,241,000.
The FmHA plans to finance
the pr%ject with a $1.47-million
loan. The $229,000 difference
between the low bid and the
loan amount will be used to
purchase equipment for the ad
dition and for legal and ar
chitectural fees.
Revenue bonds for the Ero
ject were validated in Chat
tooga Superior Court Monday
morning.
DEADLINE
The Authority’s certificate
of need for the project will ex
t)ire on June 19, givin% the con
ractor five days to place con
struction equipment on the site
after the contract signing.
A request by the Authority
that the FmHA allow a notice
to proceed to be issued to Tri-
City was still pending at state
FmHA headquarters in Athens

Wednesday. That notice must
be issued before the contractor
will start work on the pr((?'ect.
Although Smith said on
Maf' 26 that the FmHA
couldn't “officially’’ concur in
the notice being issued, he said
work could begin if the
Authority told the FmHA by
letter that the June 19 deadline
makes it imperative that a
notice be issued before that
date. However, the ‘‘informal”
okay must be handed down by
the FmHA.
