Clara Brewer
Mrs. Clara Velma Jones
Brewer, 81, Menlo, Rte. 1, died
at 7:35 a.m. Thursday in Oak
View NursinioHome.
She was born in Etowah
County, Ala., on Aug. 21, 1906,
daudghter of the late William
Anderson Jones and Alice
Samatha Shaver Jones. Mrs.
Brewer was a Methodist.
Her husband, Horace Tate
Brewer, died in 1970 and a
daughter, Vauada Whitey, died
in 1979.
Survivinfi are three
daughters, Mrs. Robbie Lee
Terry, Mrs. Betty Burney and
Mrs. Billie Crain, Menlo; one
sister, Mrs. Vera Coliins, Chat
tanooga, Tenn.; 13 grand
children; several great
grandchildren; nieces and
nephews.
Graveside services were
held at 11 a.m. Saturday in
Ami Cemetery with the Revs.
Ralph Sumner and Fred Bur
rage officiating.
Interment was in Ami
Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were
grandsons: Daryl Hames,
ruce Crain, Douglas Crain,

Church and a retired farmer.
His wife, Mamie Ward Cargle,
died in 1967, and a daughter,
Dorothy Milam, died in 1985.
Survivors include three
daughters, Mrs. Lola Mae
Mat%nis and Mrs. Ruth Rench, |
Armuchee, and Mrs. Geneva
Gentry, Dospalos, Calif.; four
sons, Houston Cargle Jr., Sum
merville, James %)rfiver Cargle,
Carlton Cargle and Bill
Cargle, Armuchee; 14 grancit
children and 28 great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews. i i
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Little
San(f Mountain Baptist
Church with the Revs. L. C.
Wright, Frank Lewis and Bob

Interment was in Little
Sand Mountain Cemetery.
Grandsons served as active
pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers in
cluded the nephews and the
Men's Adult gunday School
Class of Little Sand Mountain
Baptist Church.

Mrs. Alcie Crider, 63, 62
Baker Rd., Cartersville, died at
8:10 p.m. Sunday in Redmond
Park Hospital. ;
She was born in Floyd
County on May 5, 192}'5,
daughter of the late George
DeMonia and Della DeMonia.
Mrs. Crider was a member of
the church of Christ. She was
a store clerk.
Her husband, Eddie (Ed)
Crider, died on Oct. 27, 1971.
A daughter, Julie Johnson
Farwell, died on May 5, 1978.
A grandson, Mark DeWayne
Byrd, died on May 5, 1986.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrsg. Shelia Henry, Carters
ville; two sons, Warter M. Lit
tle, Harrington, Pa., and David
M. Little of Rome; one step
daughter, Mrs. Katherine
Cody, San Francisco, Calif.;

Harvey Griffith
Harvey Lee Griffith, 80,
Fifth Avenue, Menlo, died
June 16 in Redmond Park
Hospital. ;
Mr. Griffith was born on
July 13, 1907 in Etowah Coun
ty, Ala., son of the late Sam
and Ella Hill Griffith. He was
a deacon and member of the
Menlo Baptist Church. He was
retired from the Riegel Textile
Mills with over 23 years of ser
vice. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Marine Corps and a
member of the Adult Men's Bi
ble Class of Menlo Baptist
Church. A brother, Curt Grif
fith; and sister, Inez Suddeth,
died earlier.
Survivors include his
widow, Mrs. Mae Bell Will
ingham Griffith; two sons, Her
shel L. Griffith, Cloudland, and
George H. Griffith, Gainesville;
Fran children, Mark, Kimber
v and Michael Griffith; great
granddaughter. Sandy Grif
ith; three sisters, Mrs. Alice
Hilburn, Mrs. Mertie Teague
and Mrs. Juanita Bailey, Kan
napolis, N. C.; three brothers,
Jesse Griffith, Gadsden, Ala.,
Herbert Griffith, Kannapolis,
and Burt Crane, Menlo; one
stepbrother, Ben Davis Crane,
Menlo. :

William Kellett
William W. “Bill" Kellett,
64, Piedmont, Ala., Rte. 4, died
Sunday at his residence.
He was a native of Chat
toohga County, a store operator
in Etowah County, Ala., a Bap
tist, and son of the late Marvin
and Dona Morrison Kellett.
Funeral services were
Wednesday at Jordan Funeral
Home Chapel. .
Interment was in Lyerly
Cemetery.
Survivors include Mrs.
Saundra B. Kellett, Piedmont;
one daughter, Mrs. Betty
Felton, gadsden. Ala.; two

Mrs. Ethel E. Vernon, 87,
1501 Dodd Ave., Rome, a
former resident of Trion, died
at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, June
16, at her residence.
She was born in Chattooga
County on March 24, 1901,
daughter of the late Hampton
Caldwell and Lucinda Coffin
Caldwell. Mrs. Vernon was a
member of the Trion First Bap
tist Church.
Her husband, Charles Ver
non, died earlier.
Surviving are one dau&l;ter.

illness.

merville First United
Methodist Church. He was the
retired owner-operator of
Woods Gulf Service Station.
His wife, Mrs. Maureen G.
Woods; and sister, Mrs. Mary
Nell Moore, all died earlier.
