DEATHS
Roy Rasserman
Roy E. Kasserman, 93,
Summerville Rte. 3, a former
resident of Sarasota, Fla., died
at 2:45 p.m. Monday in Chat
tooga County Hospital.
He was born in Akron, Ohio
on April 1, 1895. He was a
veteran of World War I and
was retired from the Firestone
Corp.
Surviving are his widow,
Mildred, Summerville; one
sister, Mrs. Lucilile Lowe, Can
ton, Ohio; one nephew and one
niece.
Graveside services were
held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in
Green Hills Memory Garden
with the Rev. Daniel Tanner
officiating.
Pallbearers were Randy
Dalrymple Sr., Randy Dalrym
&l}e Jr., Jimmy Green, La
ayne McNeese, Raymond
Vanpelt and Odell LeMasters.
Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home

Mrs. Annie Maxine Patter
son, 73, Summerville Rte. 4,
died June 25 in Hutcheson
Medical Center.
Mrs. Patterson was born on
April 6, 1915 in Chattooga
County, daughter of the late
Willis Thomas and Mary Hall
Patterson. She was a member
of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church and retired from Riegel
Textile Corp. Her husband,
Horace Glenn Patterson, died
on March 30, 1982.
Survivors include one
daughter, Mrs. Elaine Miller,
Fairfax, Va.; two sons, Pat
Hall Patterson, Summerville
Rte. 4, and Glenn Patterson,
Gaylesville, Ala.; one sister,
Martha Taylor Phillips, Sum
merville; two brothers, Tom
Phillips, Trion, and Watson
Phillips, Summerville; five
gramfchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. June 27 in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Revs. Jack Matthews,
Ken Johnson and Greg Thomp
son officiating.
Interment was in Pleasant
Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Mike
Patterson, David Patterson,
Hall Patterson, Glenn Patter
son, Nicole Patterson and Tom
Phillips.

Dewey J. Sprayberry, 67,
47 Club Drive, Trion, died
Thursday at 10:50 p.m. in Red
mond Park. Hospital.
He was born in Chattooga
County on April 12, 1921, son
of the late Tgomas and Lillie
Cornelius Sprayberry. Mr.
Sprayberry was a member of
Welcome Hill Baptist Church,
a member of the Trion Golf
Club, was retired from General
Electric Co. of Rome, and was

Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Opal Tillery Sprayberry,
Trion; two sons, Ricky
Sprayberry, Trion, and Ron
Sprayberry, Richmond, Va,;
two sisters, Mrs. Margaret

Mrs. Esther Floyd, Centre,
Ala.; two grandchildren,
Michael and Jennifer
Sprayberry; several nieces and

at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel
of Erwin-Petitt ¥‘uneral Home
with the Rev. Jim Cordell and
Dr. Lorne Brown officiating.

Mrs. Bessie P. Tate, 90,
Trion Rte. 1, died at 5:41 p.m.
Saturday in Tri-County
Hospital.
Mrs. Tate was born in Chat
tooga County on Jan. 8, 1898,
daughter of the late John G.
Parham and Exa Chandler
Parham. She was aretired tex
tile worker, and a member of
the Trion United Methodist
Church. Her husband, William
P. Tate, died in 1961.
Surviving are three
daughters and sons-in-law,
Jean and Roy Chastain,
Calhoun, Sue and Cecil
Copeland, Marietta, Mrs. Joan
Wadsworth, Kennesaw; one
son and daughter-in-law, Bill
and Juanita Tate, Trion; three
sisters, Mrs. Thelma Crisp,
Mrs. Lemmie Freuler and Mrs.
Johnnie Parrish, Chattanooga,
Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, 26
great-grandchildren, one great
great-grandson; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Monday in Trion
Unitecs) Methodist ghurch with
the Rev. Harvey Boyd
officiating.
Interment was in West Hill
Cemetery.
Grandsons were pall
bearers.

Ronald Turpin
Ronald Gilbert Turpin, 59,
24843 Landau St., Centerline,
Mich., a former resident of
Floyd County, died Monday in
Detroit, Mich.
He was born in Floyd Coun
ty on March 29, 1929, son of
the late Estes Turpin and Lot
tie Mae Evans Turpin. Mr.
Turpin was a veteran of the
Korean Conflict. A brother,
L.N. Turpin, died @in
December, 1976.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Maureen Turpin,
Centerline; six daughters, Ein
da Turpin, Vivian g‘urpin Col
eman and Jackie Turpin, Cave
Spring, Ellen Lafata, Detroit,
I\felannie Waddell, Newark,
Ohio, and Vickie Boggs,
Detroit; one son, John Turpin
of Centerline; two brothers,
Dolan Turpin, Augusta, and
Robert J. Turpin, Summerville;
one sister, Mrs. Mae Lee, Sum
merville; six grandchildren;
four nephews and three nieces.

held at 3:30 p.m. today in
Green Hills Memory Garden
with the Rev. Wayne Turpin
officiating.

Methodist and retired from St.
Ravahel Hospital.

daughters, Mary Robertson,
Rome, Miss Tracy Castendyk,
Summerville; one son, Andrew
Robertson, Rome; father,
W. D. Landers, Rome; one
brother, Bill Landers, Rome;
and three grandchildren.
Funeraflervices were held
at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hill
Chapel of Lane Funeral Home
with the Rev. Charles Hendrix
officiating.
Interment was in Garrett
Cemetery.

County Landfill Location
The Georgia Geologic
Survey is scheduled to begin
testing a 50-acre tract west of
Perennial Springs on Tuesday,
July 26, for its suitability as a
new Chattooga County landfill.
Dennis Perriello, a geologist
with the Survey, saig the ap-

A political forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday,
July 21, at The Tavern, Trion. It will be sponsored by the
Chattooga County Business and Professional Women's
Club.
A buffet dinner will be available for $6 per plate before
the forum.
The forum itself is ogen to the public by reservation on

Clark Reynolds, North
Georgia regional mana%er for

that his office was again short

Commissioner Harry Powell to
discuss closure plans for the ex
isting landfill and the status of
plans for opening a new
facility.
Powell's office had told him
that the commissioner was
seeking bids from engineers on
the cost for drawing a closure
f)lan for the Penn Bridge Road
andfill and a development pro
posal for the new site west of
Pe;;jennial Springs, Reynolds
said.
The county has been given
until Sept. 30 to close the ex
isting landfill and until Oct. 1
to open a new facility.
