New Club President
Tony Jones, a Summerville insurance executive, will be
installed as the new president of the Summerville-Trion
Optimist Club next Thursday. The club decided to help
the new president celebrate his 30th birthday this past
Friday by having him hold two 30-pound weights at
arm’s length. Glen Ezell, the outgoing president, said
that Jones is a weightlifter, and gecause of that Ezell
later said he was disappointed that Jones continually

Trailer Burns
A mobile home on Crowe
Street received extensive
damage in a fire Sunday, accor
ding to the Summerville Fire
Department.
One-half the mobile home
was destroyed by fire and the
other half received extensive,
,water, smoke and heat damage,
reports said.
Firemen were on duty from
about 3:20 until about 4:20
p.m.

last Friday, said a report filed

shotgun, .20 gauge shotgun,

A video cassette recorder,
two rings and $lO change were
stolen from the mobile home of
Linda Sue Chamlee, Summer
ville Rte. 3, last Friday,
reported Dep. Joey Norton.

A .30-.30 caliber rifle and
scope and a .22 caliber rifle
were rePorted stolen from the
home of Ralph D. McGraw Jr.,
Lyerly Rte. 1, last Friday, Nor
ton continued. The rear door
was forced open, he said. Value
of the guns was listed at $315.
WINDOW ENTRY
The home of Jimmy Dale
Dotson, Lyerly Rte. 1, was also
hit by thieves Friday, Norton
said. They entered the house
through a window on the west
