ference will be held next Mon
day and Tuesday at Pennville
First Baptist Church, featurinfi
four guest speakers. Eac
day's session will begin at 7
.m.

Toles, Rome; the Rev. Bruce
Hodfie. Gadsden, Ala.; Dr.
Charles Owens, Gadsden; and
the Rev. Charles Hyder, Chat
tanooga, Tenn.
Mr. Toles is a Baptist lay
%peaker and a former Floyd
ounty state representative.
He is a native of tge Chattooga
County area and a frequent
speaker at Baptist gatherings.

Speaker At
Revival Meet
The Rev. Jessie Harkins
will be the speaker for revival
services at the East Trion
Church of God. The series will
begin Sunday and continue
through next Wednesday.
Heis an evan%Slist with the
North Georgia Church of God
State Evangelism Team.
The service will begin at 6
.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m.
K/londay through Wednesday.
Special singing will be featured
at each service.
The Rev. Herman Timms,
pastor, invites the public.
Church, Gadsden, will speak
Monday evening.
Dr. Owens is a graduate of
Jacksonville State, Ala.,
University, and Luther Rice
Seminary.
He also is active in Martial
Arts Evanfielism as an Bth
degree black belt. Dr. Owens
toured the Holy Land twice
and was name! to the U. S.
Special Ol[\;mpics Committee in
1976. He has also been named
among the Outstanding Young
Men of America by the
Jaycees.
Dr. Hodge is pastor of
Bellevue Baptist Church,
Gadsden. He received his

Sardis Baptist Hosts Meet
The Rev. Warren Hud
dleston of Winshape Camp and
Huddleston House on the
Berry College caméms will be
guest speaker at Sardis Bap
tist Church Sunday.
He will speak at the 11 a.m.
and 7 p.m. services.
The Rev. Huddlesten's ad
dress will be part of the coun
ty's weekend sesquicentennial
celebration.
Sardis is the oldest
established church in the coun
ty, church officials said. It was
established in the 1830 s and
the current structure was built
in 1859,
The Rev. Bill Akins, pastor,
invites the public to both
services.
Chelsea Sets
Homecoming

This Sunday
Chelsea Baptist Church will
hold sg)ecial homecoming ser
vices Sunday in observance-of
Chattooga County's 150th
anniversary.
All members and former
members are invited to attend,
along with the public.
A lamp light service will
begin at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Women are asked to wear long
old-fashioned dresses and men
are asked to wear overalls.
The Rev. G. W. Rosson is
pastor.

her senior year at Shorter Col
lege in Rome as president of
the Shorter Christian
Association.
The S.C.A. encourages
Christian thought and action
on campus, and sponsors
several campus-wide slrecial
events such as the college's
Christian Focus Week.
Connie, a 1985 sgraduate of
Chattooga High School, is a’
religion and philosophy major
at Shorter. She is also a
member of the Baptist Student
Union, the Wright-Meredith
Ministerial Assn., and the First
Baptist Church of
