Indians’ Reginald Groce (2) Fails To Make Play
Let’s Go Fishing

Pals, I made a mistake in my column last week —the se
cond one in my life.
The creek at Lad’s Fish Camp is Ballplay not Paw Paw
as I wrote. The distance from LadQ s to the Coosa River is one
mile. From Frogtown in Trion to Lad’s is 23 miles. See the
Lad’s map and advertisement on this page.
James Cherry, while fishing in Green's catfish pond, caught
eight cats that weighed in at 13 pounds.
A report from the Texaco Service Station and manager of
the Cedar Bluff Motel said that two boats, one with three men
and the other with two men, came by with 100 crappie each.
All were caught in the grass beds on minnows.
Gene Parker and I kept 11 slab crappie and two good cat
fish last Saturday with minnows on Parker’s stump row.
Denny Strickland and Paul Cooper caught 18 crappie and
four catfish Wednesday afternoon. They were fishing down
the Chattooga River from Gaylesville, Ala.
I have been asked how much is the out-of-state fishing
license in Alabama. The answer is S2O. Alabama'’s new ruling
states that it will change out-of-state residents the same as
that state charges Alagzma residents.
The James H. ““‘Sloppy’’ Floyd State Park lake near Sum
merville has plenty of {)arge bream and bigmouth bass, boats
for rent, clean restrooms, tables, barbecue grills and overnight
camping with full hookups.
FISHING TIP
When drift fishing, use a bobber stopper and bobber, ad
just the bobber stopper for depth to bump the bottom and
cast down drift about 30 feet. The largest cragpie are caught
this way. NOTE: Keep your eye on the bobber.
PARTING CAST
Dolly Parton was questioned about how long it takes to
do her fiair: “] wouldn’t know,” she answered, “I'm never
there.”
