No Reenactment Dividends
For Downtown Merchants
Stores in downtown Sum
merville did not benefit from a
surge in retail spending during
the reenactment of the Battle
of Chickamauga, it was
reported Tuesday to the Retail
Council of the Chattooga Coun
ty Chamber of Commerce.
One retailer in Trion did
well, however. Robert Floyd,
owner of the Super D stores,
said his Trion store sold out of
umbrellas ‘“‘and everything
that had to do with rain.”
The reemactment was con
ducted Sept. 17-18. It rained
heavily the night of the 16th
and the moming of the 17th.
INFLUX
Retailers had hoped the in
flux of people to ogserve the
reenactment would also bring
to town those who would spend
money locally, but that digfmt
happen, several Council
members said.
