Robert Burton
Robert Glenn Burton Sr.,
62, Trion Rte. 1, Mountain
View, died Sunday afternoon,
Oct. 16, following a sudden
illness. ; ;
Mr. Burton was born in
Walker County on Au%. Y
1926, son of the late Zeb and
Docia Ragland Burton. He was
a veteran of World War 11, ser
ving in the U. S. Army. He was
a construction/bulldozer
operator.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Nellie B. Burton; two
sons and a daughter-in-law,
Robert Gelnn Burton Jr., and
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Wayne
Burton, Trion; two stepsons
and daughters-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Wfiliam T. Croy, Trion,
and Mr. and Mrs. Jo{m Croy,
Awashie, Tenn.; one sister,
Mrs. Helen Barton, Knoxville,
Tenn.; three gjandchildren. one

three nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in
the chaglel of Erwin-Petitt

Chamblee. He operated the
Chamblee Insurance Agency,
Atlanta.
Surviving are one daughter,
Cherri Chan%blee. Atlanta; one
son, Joey Chamblee, Atlanta;
three brothers, Ralph **Buster”
Chamblee, Menlo, Scott
Chamblee, Cloudland, and
Dickie Chamblee, Summerville;
and several nieces and
nephews. ;

held at 11 a.m. last Thursday,
Oct. 13, in Cloudland
Presbyterian Church Cemetery

Donnie C. Hines, 31, 213

Monday morning, Oct. 17, in
Chattooga County Hospital.
Mr. Hines was born on June
6, 1957, in Chattooga County.
He was a construction worker
and a Baptist.
Survivors include one
daughter, Miss Serena Hines,
LaFayette; one son, Josh
Hines, LaFayette; parents,
Claude and Betty Hines, Sum
merville; two brothers, Robert
Hines and Jason Hines, Sym
merville; five sisters, Elizabeth
Railey, Linda Hines, Kim
Hines, Christy Hines, Summer
ville, and Terry Hines, Rome.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19,
in the Hill Chapely of Lane
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Wrathburn Cash officiating.
Interment was in Chapel
Hill Cemetery.

Lois Howell
Mrs. Lois Gertrude Howell,
70, sth St., Trion, died Thurs
day, Oct. 13, in Chattooga
County Hospital.
She was born in Walker
County on July 7, 1918,
daughter of the late John F.
Scott and Monnie Spraggins
Scott. Mrs. Howell was retired
from Riegel Corp., and she was
a member of Mountain View
Baptist Church. Her husband,
Carlos Howell, died on Feb. 1,
1984.
Surviving are one son,
Michael Scotty Howell, Trion;
two brothers, Lewis D. Scott,
Trion, and Emmett L. Scott,
Thomaston; two grand
children, Lyndon and Jill
Howell, Trion; several nieces
and nephews. L
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in
Mountain View Baptist
Church with the Revs. Clifford
Ownby and Douglas Brandon

Hills Memory Garden.

James Million
James E. Million, 76, Chat
tanooga, Tenn, died Tuesday
morning, Oct. 18, in a Chat
tanooga hospital.
He was a lifelong resident
of Hamilton County, Tenn.,
was a member of Apison Bap
tist Church and a member of
the Apison Lions Club. Mr.
Million was retired from the
3M Corp. with 40 years of
service. . e
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Virginia Woods Million;
one son, James Connally
Million, Chattanooga; and
several Chattooga County
residents.
Funeral services will be held
at 3 p.m. todafi', Oct. 20, in
Valley View Chapel of Lane
Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Forest
Hill Cemetery.
Donzella Palmer
Mrs. Donzella Roschaa
Palmer, 38, Coraopolis, Penn.,
formerly of Summerville and
Atlanta, died Oct. 11 in Emory
Universitg Hospital, Atlanta.
Mrs. Palmer was born in
Summerville on May 4, 1950,
where she attended school for
several years. She was
employed as a flight attendant
with Delta Airlines.
She was a member of An
tioch Baptist Church in
Sewickley, Penn. She served on
the church board of trustees
and was a member of the mis
sionary committee.
Surviving are her widower,
John B. Palmer; one daughter,
Rissi Palmer, both ofg Cor
aopolis; parents, Mrs. Janie
Page, Milton, Fla.; Mr. and
Mrs. Bobby Shropshire, Atlan
ta; two sisters, Tonie and
Angie; six brothers, Gary, Dan
ny, Michael, Kenneth, Re%gie
NYack and Bobby Shropshire
Jr.; grandmothers, Mrs. Janie
Richardson and Mrs. Lillie
Mae Walker, Summerville;
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. Saturday morning,
Oct. 15, in Ben Hill United
Methodist Church, Atlanta,
with the Revs. Walter Kim
brough, Paul Easley and other
ministers officiating.
Delta Airlines attendants
were flowerbearers and
brothers were pallbearers.
Interment was in Summer
ville Cemetery. L

Pavid Smith
David H. Smith, 59,
LaFayette, died Sunday, Oct.
16, in Hutcheson Medical
Center, Fort Oglethorpe, from
injuries received in an
automobile accident.
He was born April 11, 1929
in Broomtown, Ala. He was
retired from the U.S. Navy
with over 24 years of service.
His parents, Roy C. and Bessie
Hickman Smith, died earlier.
Survivors include his
widow, Doris Sharpe Smith,
Summerville; four sons, David
J. Smith, Summerville,
Michael B. Smith, Ringgold,
Gary Smith, Rome, David H.
Smith Jr., LaFayette; one
sister, Rosemary West,
Jonesboro; two brothers, Bob
by Smith, Marietta, and Erby
C. Smith, Powder Springs; nine
grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19,
in the Lar.aiyette ghapel of
Lane Funeral Home with the
Rev. Melvin Bridges
officiating.
Interment was in
LaFayette Memory Gardens.

Ray H. Stapp, 75, Poplar
Spri%s Road, Ringgold, Sied
last Wednesday, Oct. 12, at his
residence.
Mr. Stafi)p was the son of
the late John Stapp and Mrs.
Ellie Henderson Stapp. A
sister, Mrs. Tinnie S. Barton,
and a brother, James S. Stapp,
died previously.
Survivors include his
widow, Kate Fowler Stapp;
three daughters, Shirley Stapfi.
Ringgold, Mrs. Linda Black,
Summerville, and Dr. Jamie S.
Young of Charlottesville, Va.;
and one grandchild, Candi
Black, Summerville.
Funeral services were held
at 3 p.m. last Saturday, Oct.
