Bridge May
Be Okayed
Action is exsected Friday
morning on a bid to widen the
Highway 100 bridge over the
Chattooga River south of
Summerville.
It will be the third time that
the Georgia Department of
Transportation has attempted
to award a contract on the
pro’gect.
impson Construction Co.,
Cleveland, Tenn., submitted an
aggarent low bid of
$881,836.41 on the project last
Friday.
The first time that bids
were opened, the DOT rejected
all the bids, saying they were
higher than the state's
estimates for the project. A se
cond bid opening {md been
scheduled in late September
but the DOT withdrew the pro
{'ect from consideration at the
ast minute because of an ap
parent error in its design plans.
