Chattooga Overpowered By Cass, 40-13;
Face Carrollton Trojans Friday

The Cass Colonels defeated
the Chattooga Indians Friday
night at Cass, 40-13 in a sub
region contest. The Colonels'
Sherman Darby proved to be
the difference as Ee rushed for
155 yards in only 13 rushes and
two touchdowns on runs of 21
and 11 yards.
The game was marred by a
fight in the third quarter when
players were ejected from both

passed for 169 yards and two
touchdowns. Both TD recep
tions went to Reginald Groce,

for 119 yards. Defensively the
Indians were led by Todd Fox,
Michael Humphrey and
Reginald Groce.
| The Indians moved the ball
against the Colonels but failed
to get into the end zone early,
aving the way for the Colonels

the opening kickoff and drove
from their own 33 to the Cass
34 before being stopped.
Cass then took over at the
12 and drove 88 yards in 10
plays to score. Sherman Darb
got the honors from 21 yard%
out. Jim Langston added the
PAT and the Colonels led 7-0
with 1:22 left in the first
quarter.
The Indians then took the
ensuing kickoff and drove from
their own 30 to the Colonel 15
before again being stopped and
missing a field goal on fourth
down.
The Colonels, behind the
running of Darby, then drove
80 yards in only six plays, five
of which Darby carrieé’ on to
score with 5:12 left in the first
half. Darby had carries of 22,
28, 17, 1 and the final an
11-yard touchdown run.
Lan%ston added the PAT and
the Colonels led 14-0.
The Colonels were not
through in the first half when
they drove 58 yards in six
plays with the scoring play be

dall Carter to Walter Brown for
the score with only 1:09 left in
the first half. The kick for the
PAT was no good and the score
stood 20-0 at the half.
The Colonels took the se
cond half kickoff and drove 66
vards in five plays for a
touchdown. The combination
of Carter to Brown clicked
again for 14 yards and a
touchdown. Langston added
the PAT and the Colonels led
27-0 with 10:08 left in the third
quarter.
Cass scored their next
touchdown when they blocked
a Chattooga punt and
recovered it in the end zone for

The Indians then started
their own touchdown drive,
traveling 59 yards in 3 plays.
On third and fourteen, Hosmer
his Groce with a pass and
Groce made a tremendous run
63 yards for the touchdown,
breaking numerous tackles
along the way. Adam Hankins
added the PA'l' and the Indians
trailed 34-7 with 4:01 left in the
third quarter.

Festival Set
The Menlo Parent-Teacher
Organization will sponsor its
annual fall festival from 6 to 9
p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the
school f{ym.
A 12 x 12 bound beige plush
carpet will be given away.
Tickets may be obtained from
Menlo students.
There will also be door
prizes, hamburgers, hot dogs
and other food items and there
will be games for everyone.
There will be no admission
charge and all proceeds from
the event will be used to pur
chase equipment for the school.

first down. On fourth down
from there, after three in
complete passes, Hosmer hit
Groce again for 11 yards and a
touchdown with 3:07 left in the
game. The pass for the two
point conversion was no good.
The Indians host the Car
rollton Trojans Friday night at
the Little g}ig Horn. It will be
the Indians’' final home ap
péarance of the 1988 season.
Festival Set
At Subligna
A fall festival will be held at
the Subligna Community
Center on Saturday. Activities
will begin at 1 p.m.
The festiva}J will include
country music by the Southern
Edge band, hay rides, games,
cake walk, Brunswick stew,
and barbecue plates. All pro
ceeds from the festival wifi) go
toward the community center
building fund.
