It was the Celts who chose the date of October 31 as their New Year's Eve and
who originally intended it as a celebration of everything wicked, evil and dead. Alsc
during their celebration they would gather around the campfire and offer their
animals, their crops amd sometimes themselves as a sacrifice. (World Book En
cyclopedia pp. 24-25)
The apparently harmless lighted pumpkin face or “jack-'o-lantern” is an ancient
symbol of the damned sou! They were named for a man named Jack who could not
enter heaven or hell As 3 result, he was doomed to wander in darkness with his
lantern until judgment day Fearful of spooks folks began to hollow out turnips
and pumpkins and place lighted candles inside to scare evil spirits away from the
house. (The Book of Festive Holidays, p. 125)
TODAY
On December, 1987, four boys drove out to a deserted, wooded area. logether,
to honor the devil, they sacrificed a cat. They performed the bloody rituals chan
ting “Sacrifice for Satan"’, over and over ‘Sacrifice for Satan” (Woman's Day, cur
rently on stands dated 11/22/88). This is not an isolated incident. The minds of our
teens are bombarded today with demonic symbols and albumsivideos full of
violence and words to glorify drugs. sex, and the music's power source, Satan Sad
ly, most parents do not take it seriously enough or they do not study the Word
enough to know how to come against what's happening in their family There is a
power force opposite that of our true God. Satan is the ruler of evil and darkness and
those powers are revealed all too often in horrifying ways through young peop
who began by playing with the sensation, the lure of Satanic rituals
Halloween is a celebrated holiday of such rituals We prociaim the good news
that Christ defeated the forces of darkness at Calvary it's importan! for parents,
pastors. teachers, and laymen to recognize that we do fight against "powers and
principalities'” of darkness Teach vour children the ‘rutk’ Take authorily in Jesus
