Collision
Injures
Three
Three people were injured in
a two-vehicle accident on U, S,
Highway 27 at Pennville last
Wednesday, Oct. 19, according
to Sgt. Jyoe Gossett of the
Georgia State Patrol.
Tfi:s were identified as
Michae{ Leon Wells, 20, 722

Bill Dorsett, Ocoee, Fla.; and
Joann Dorsett, 43, Clairmont

treated at Chattooga County
Hospital and dismissed while
Dorsett and Ms. Dorsett were
transferred to Floyd Medical
Center and later dismissed.
PINNED
Dorsett was pinned in the
wrecked automobile for ag;-
Broximatel%:s minutes as the

the wreckage. The squad had
to use the Jaws o? Life to
remove the entire right side of
the car and the roof of the vehi

vehicle.
Sergeant Gossett said a car
driven%)y Wells was traveling
southon U. S. 27 at a high rate

misha(i). A pickup truck was be
ing driven north on the

Lawsuit
Seeking
SIB,OOO
Chattooga County Dist. At
ty. David “‘Red”” Lomenick is
attempting to condemn more
than SIB,OOO cash and several
vehicles seized in a drug raid on
Sept. 29. . / i
Asst. Dist. Atty. Susan
Sarrett filed the cond)i;mnation
proceeding last Friday in Chat
tooga Superior Court. It was
fileg against James Hammond,
41, Rome, and Iva Nell
Haynes, 39, Summerville, Rte.
They were arrested at a
home in Silver Hill and charg
ed with drug law violations.
Sheriff Gary McConnell said at
the time that about a half
ounce of suspected cocaine was
found during the raid.
The condemnation pro
ceeding seeks to confiscate
$18,014.51 in cash, 1985
Mercedes, 1982 Trans Am,
1984 S-10 pickup truck and a
black Chevrolet truck.
The cash was used ‘“‘to
facilitate the unlawful distribu
tion and possession of cocaine
(and) was also found in close
proximity to said cocaine,” the
lawsuit states. Sl
The vehicles were allegedly
used to transport and conceal
cocaine and were bought with
the proceeds from cocaine
sales, the condemnation pro
ceeding states.

timist Club Friday will hear a

The meeting will be at noon
at The Tavern, Trion.
WARNING!
THE
ISSUES
IN THIS
YEAR’S
ELECTION
ARE ...
1. DO YOU WANT A LIBERAL DUKAKIS DEMOCRAT FOR PRESIDENT?
2. FOR CHATTOOGA COUNTY DO YOU WANT A COMMISSIONER
CONTROLLED BY THAT SAME CLIQUE YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO
VOTE OUT OF OFFICE FOR YEARS?
No Democratic Commissioner has ever been able to separate
themselves from this group. The last two years of Mr. Powell’s ad
ministration was totally under their control. Even today, he is working to
pave the Democrats’ way into office with your tax dollars and to help
cover up the landfill issue. You were so disgusted with this type of con
trol that you voted Mr. Denson out of office, and now you have voted Mr.
Powell out of office. Let me assure you that my opponent is of the same
political party, under the same control and has surrounded himself with
the same “‘closed door” clique that you voted out with the Denson ad
ministration.
3. BEER IS NOT AN ISSUE IN THIS ELECTION BUT THE WAY BEER
CAME INTO CHATTOOGA COUNTY IS A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE. By
political manipulation you were deprived of your right to vote and have a
say in this matter.
4.1 T IS TOO LATE TO MAKE AN ISSUE OF THE PRISON, BUT HOW IT
CAME TO OUR COUNTY AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED IS AN ISSUE.
5. NOW! | MUST MAKE A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE OUT OF THE LAND
FILL AND POLLUTION. These Democrats have known for at least 12
years the approximate date our landfill would reach capacity. They have
done nothing to reclaim or improve the old one and have taken steps to
hide a'decision on a new one. Our ground water is polluted and our river
is an open sewer line to Weiss Lake. We must take a stand and clean up
our county.
Instead of planning and cleaning up they want to go into one of the
purest and cleanest areas of our County, in a watershed that supplies
most of our county water supply including the communities of Berryton,
Summerville, Pennville and Lyerly. They propose trucking all
Chattooga’s garbage and industrial waste to the Perennial Springs
Community. The attempt to slip THAT ISSUE IN WAS DECIDED THE
SAME WAY THE PRISON AND THE BEER ISSUES WERE DECIDED.
DON’T YOU FEEL IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE, a time for the people of
this County to have a say in what is done. A vote for Fondren Wright is a
vote to give the office of Commissioner back to you and we will work
together to improve our county. If you care about our county please vote
in this election.
