Berkhouse, 67, Holland, died
Monday, March 13, in a Rome
hos&ital.
rs. Berkhouse was born in
lowa on March 15, 1921,
daughter of the late George
and Selma Miller Cain. She was
a member of Prosgect United
Methodist Church, Prospect
Homemaker Club, and was a
4-H Club member. Her hus
band, James Kenneth
Berkhouse, died previously.
Survivin are three
daughters, fanelle Peacock,
Orlando, Fla.,, Selma Lamb,
Holland, and Karen Cot
tonham, Grinstead, England:
one brother, Robert Cain,
Chicago, Ill.; 14 grandchildren,
five great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services wifi be held
at 2 y.m. today, March 16, in
the Jennings Funeral Home
West, Oak %hapel.
Interment will be in Oak
Knoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Katherine Crider
Brown, 60, San Francisco,
Calif., a former resident of
Chattooga County, died Satur
day, March 11, in California.
She was born in Chattooga
County on Oct. 28, 1928,
daughter of the late Eddie and
Emmie Lou Crider. Her hus
band, George Brown, died in
1985.
Survivin are two

mon, San Francisco, and Mrs.
Patsy Barbar, Milledgeville:
one son, Eddie Dobson, Rome:
one brother, George (Sarge)
Crider, Rome: four grand
children, one great-grandchild;
several nieces and nephews.

held at 1 p.m. Wednesday,
March 15, in Oak Knoll
Memorial Gardens in Rome.

Mrs. Myrtie E. Edgeworth,
81, 313 Bittings Ave., Sum
merville, died Tuesday after
noon, March 14, in Chattooga
County Hospital.
Mrs. Edgeworth was born
in Cherokee County, Ala., on
Aug. 30, 1907, daughter of the
late John and Emma Waters
Edgeworth. She was a member
of New Antioch Baptist
Church.

Mrs. Bessie L. Henderson,
77. Elm Street, Trion, died
Wednesday, March 8, in Chat
tooga County Hospital.
Mrs. Henderson was born
in Polk County on Oct. 9, 1911,
daughter of the late John E.
and Bertha Bowman
Lockridge. She was a member
of Trion First Baptist Church.
Her husband, B. g Henderson,
died previously.
Surviving are one daughter,
Edna Bartlett, Trion; two sons,
Burrell Henderson and Donald
Henderson, Trion; four sisters,
Evelyn Maddux, Jacksonville,
Ala., Jewell Aldridge, Pied
mont, Ala., Willie Cooper, An
niston, Ala., and Rut%e Mad
dux, Atlanta; nine grand
children, 10 great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 1:30 p.m. Friday. March 10,
in the chapel of Erwin-Petitt
Funeral Home, with the Revs.
Jim Cordell and Waydell

Interment was in Trion
Cemetery.

ly of Chattooga County, died
Tuesday, March 14, in Rome.
He was born in Floyd Coun
ty Aug. 11, 1942, son of the
late Thomas Holmes. He was a
member of West Rome Chris
tian Church and was employed
as a route salesman for Frito
Lay Co.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Jerri Larsen Holmes,
Rome; one son, Keith Holmes,
Athens; three daughters, Mrs.
Debbie McElveen, Mrs. Gina
Atkinson and Mrs. Marianne
Robinson, Rome; mother, Mrs.
Ellie Mae West Holmes, Rome;
three brothers, Paul Holmes,
Litten, Colo., Jimmy Holmes,
Rome, and Cecil Holmes,
Warner Robins; five
grandchildren.

resi§ent of Menlo, died last Fri
day morning, March 10, in
DeKalb General Hospital.
She was born in Loop, Ala.,
Nov. 27, 1893, daughter of the
late John Alexander and Mat
tie Hamilton Kennedy.
Mrs. King was a Methodist.
Her husbangs. Gordon Martin
Rambo and Henry Lunsford
King, and a daufihter. Martha
Simms, died earlier.
Surviving are one son, Dr.
John Henry Thomas Rambo,
New York City; and several
grandchildren.
Graveside services were
held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March
12, in Alpine Cemetery with
the Rev. Peggy Lowe
officiating.

Hershall Lamb
Hershall C. Lamb, 53,
Holland, died Thursday, March
9, in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Lamb was born in
Floyd County on May 9, 1935,
son of the late Albert Patrick
Lamb and the late Octavia
Pace Lamb Williams. He was
a member of the Prospect
Methodist Church and was a
construction worker.
Surviving are his widow,
Selma Berkhouse Lamb,
Holland: two daughters, Selma
Burkhaulter, Ala., and Sandra
Lamb, Holland:; five sons, Her
shall Lamb 11, Roger Lamb,
Richard Lamb, Randall Lamb
and Russell Lamb, Holland:;
four brothers, Albert Lamb,
Smyrna, Mack Lamb, Mariet
ta, Wesley Lamb and Donald
Lamb, Florida; and several
nieces and nephews.

Wednesday, March 8.
Mrs. l\?cNair was born in
Chattooga County on April 16,
1929, daughter of the late
Samuel Young. She was a
member of the LaFayette
Peoples Baptist Church. Her
husgand. David McNair, died
previously.
Surviving are four
daughters, Martha McKeehan,
LaFayette, Claudia Jordan,
McMinnville, Tenn., Wanda
Sumner and Tina Hogue,
Rossville; three sons, Billy
Hayes, Lakeland, Fla., Harvey
Hogue, LaFayette, and Randy
McNair, Rossville; mother,
Dossie Parker Young,
LaFayette; five brothers, Her
man Young, John Young,
Luther Young, Harold Young,
Summerville, and Billy Joe
Young, Lyerly; 13 grand
children; several nieces and
nephews.

at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 10,
in the chapel of Erwin-Petitt

Bill Renslow
Bill N. Renslow, 52, Trion
Road, Summerville, died Fri
day afternoon, March 10, from
injuries received in an
automobile accident south of
LaFayette earlier that day.
Mr. Renslow was born in
Cleveland, Tenn., on Oct. 19,
1936, son of the late Alfred and
Martha Jane Gibson Renslow.
He was employed by Galey and
Lord Industries, Shannon, and
had served in the U. S. Army
from 1961 to 1963.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Joan Wilson Renslow;
four daughters, Mrs. Teresa
Hensley and Mrs. Janet Lynn

Jane Renslow and Miss Natalie
Ellen Renslow, Summerville;
three sons, Jack Renslow,

Mrs. Esther A. Shields, 95,
Summerville Rte. 4, died Mon
day, March 13, in Oak View
Nursing Home.
Mrs. Shields was born in
Walker County on Sept. 16,
1893, daughter of the late
Reuben ang Sarah Ann Walls
Jennings. She was a retired
glove mill employee and a
member of Bethel United
Methodist Church. Her hus
band, John W. Shields, a
daughter, Mammie Ruth Pi
nion, and a sister, Allie Mit
chell, died previously.
Surviving are four sons,
Vaughn Shields, Blue Ridge,
Lewis Shields and Frank
Shields, LaFayette, and Ralph
Shields, Summerville; 17
grandchildren, 32 great
grandchldren, five great-great
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March
15, in the chapel of Erwin-
Petitt Funeral Home, with the
Revs. Willie Bearden and Hoyt
Jennings officiating.
Interment was in West Hill
Cemetery.

Carlton L. Timmons, 42,
North Commerce St., Summer
ville, died Saturday, March 11,
after a sudden illness.
Mr. Timmons was born in
Chattooga County on June 9,
1946, son of the late Rachel
Sarah Watkins Timmons. He
was an automobile body repair
man and attended the Church
of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are his father,
R. B. Timmons, Summerville;
one daughter, Kelly Timmons,
Trion; six sisters, Betty Layne,
Memphis, Tenn., Linda
Bethune and Becky Jackson,
Fort Myers, Fla., Patricia Ban
dy. Summerville, Helen Tim
mons and Sue Woodard,
LaFayette; five brothers, Bob

Tuesday afternoon, March 7, in
Oak View Nursing Home.
Mrs. Weesner was born in
Chattooga County on Oct. 31,
1896, daughter of the late
James T. and Flora Patrick
Weaver. Her husband, John D.
Weesner Sr., and two sons,
Frank Weesner and John D.
Weesner Jr., died earlier.
Surviving are two
daughters, Mary Jo Bowles,
Atlanta, and Margaret Pays
inger, Nashville, Tenn.; one
son, Tommy Weesner, Atlanta;
three granddaughters,
Margaret Weesner, Ann
Tucker and Susan Bowles; two
grandsons, Larry Weesner and
John Paysinger; one brother,
Bill Weaver, Rome; two great
grandchildren, Karen and
Tracy Tucker; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9,
at Lyerly First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Tony Christie
officiating.
