Billfi" Green, 30, Cloudland,
was charged with a parole
violation, driving under the in
fluence of intoxicants, theft by
taking, theft of motor parts,
aggravated assault, attemp
ting to elude officers, obstruc
tion of officers, and reckless
driving.
City of Summerville reports
indicated that he was also
charged with being an habitual
violator, interferring with
government Froperty and
resisting arrest.
BACKUP
Capt. Eddie Colbert receiv
ed a lookout on Green'’s vehicle
and spotted it on Highland
Street at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday.
He followed the pickup trucK,
awaiting backup assistance. As
Green’s truck turned from
University Street onto Rome
Boulevard, Colbert said he
turned on his patrol car’s blue
lights.
However, the truck sped
awar\; and turned onto Lyerly
Highway, Colbert said. The
captain passed the truck while
Lt. Richard Gifford fiulled his
atrol car behind the truck.

captured.
After Green was placed in

A Rome man has been
charied with criminal attempt
at robbery in connection with
an incident at the McGinnis
High Rise Apartment building
in Northwest Summerville
Saturday afternoon.
Johnny E. Carroll, 29, Glen
Acres Motel, Rome, was charg
ed Sunday and he remained in
jail at noon Monday.
Lt. Richard Giff);rd of the
Summerville Police Depart
ment said a man enteretf the
afiartment of Margaret Rich in
the high rise at 4:30 p.m. Satur
day, asking to wuse the
restroom.
He then demanded money
and tried to strangle her, Gif
ford said. The man fled the
scene in a black pickup truck

truck meeting the description
of the one in which the man
fled, questioned the female
driver and obtained Carroll's
name, the lieutenant added.

the investigation.

A Trion man was arrested
in Summerville on the evening
of Feb. 20 after a shoplifting in
cident at Hurley's Phil-Mart,
South Commerce Street,
Summerville.

Street, between Feb. 20 and

reported stolen from the home
of David Brown, Roberts
Street, Summerville, Sunday
