by First Response Inc. in Cobb
County. The reconditioned am
bulance was delivered to the
county late last week.
The change should help
reduce or eliminate problems
suffered by the ambulance
throughout most of 1990,
especially during the hot sum
mer months, the commissioner
indicated. The ambulance suf
fered several breakdowns,
most of them related to the
gasoline engine overheating.
REPLACED
Before being replaced, the
Chattooga Emergean' Medical
Service (EMS) ambulance was
on its fourth gasoline engine
and third automatic transmis
sion. All were under warranty
at the time.
Commissioner Parker and
Herbert Dodd, director of the
EMS, had indicated that Ford
Motor Co. had apparentlY ex
perienced similar problems
with that model of ambulance
chassis nationwide, not just in
Chattooga County.
