The Continuing Education
Department at Walker
Technical Institute will hold
classes at Chattooga County
High School sEring quarter.
Walker Tech has been offer
ing evening classes at Chat
tooga Hi%h School for three
quarters. During that time, 81
individuals have received cer
tificates for classes they have
completed at Chattooga High
School.
The classes available
follows:
Introduction to Microcom
puters will be offered on
Thursdays, befi;ilnnin on April
11 and ending May Z.gl‘he clgss
will be held %rom 6 to 10 p.m.
The course provides an in
troduction to the computer,
basic MS-DOS, word process
ing, spreadsheet software, and
database management.
Lotus 1-2-3 will be offered
on Tuesdays, beginning April
9 and ending May 7. The class
will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.
Lotus software provides a
method of keeping financial
records which eliminates pf’llper.
pencil, and calculator. This
class is designed for computer
users who work or want to
work with budgets, balance
sheets, and otfizr' business
related information tools.
Basic typing will be offered
on Tuesdays, beginning A{)ril
9 and ending May 28. The class
will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.
In basic typewriting, students
will learn correct techniques,
alphabetic and numeric sym
bols, simple formatting,
keyboarding speed and ac
curacy, and proofreading. This
course is ideal if you would like
to brush up on your typing
skills. WTI will also offer more
advanced typing classes during
thisisame'time:.. .~
Recordkeeping I and IT will
be offered on Tuesdays, begin
ning April 9 and ending May
28. The class will be held from
6 to 10 p.m. In recordkee];;ing
students will learn to keep
financial records for business
or personal use. Topics include:
preparation of financial
statements, reconciliation of
bank statements, prefiaration
of payroll and payroll taxes,
antr other areas of interest.

17 Arrested
On DUI Count
A 27-year-old woman charg
ed in February with driving
under the influence (DU]) of in
toxicants in Chattooga County
had been charged with DUI
three times previously and
with other offenses four times
previously.
The monthly resport of the
Chattooga County Sheriff’s Of
fice indicated that 17 people
were charged with DUI last
month.
In addition to the woman
with multiple previous arrests
the report showed that a
66-year-old man had been ar
rested twice previously for
DUI and four times earlier on
other charges.
Those arrested ranged in
age from 18 to 66. Two of the
17 were women.
