Billy Chadwick
Billy Joe Chadwick, 56,
Fort Pagme. Ala., formerly of
Trion, died Thursday ?;ight.
Feb. 7, at Baptist Medical
Center, DeKalb.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, Feb. 10, at Burt
Funeral Home Chag;el, with the
Revs. Wally Rudd and Terry
Bentley officiatinfi.l Interment
followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Chadwick is survived
by his widow, Gaynell Chad
wick; son and daughter-in-law,
Joe and Kathy Chadwick;
daughter’'s and sons-in-law,
Kay and Johnny Eberhart,
Susan and Phillip Cyrus, all of
Fort Payne; grandchildren,
Kristy and Allison Eberhart,
Chasity and Colby Chadwick,
Jason and Kayrn Cyrus;
brothers, Winston Chadwick,
Summerville, and Edward
Chadwick, Fort Payne; sister,
Ann Hughes, Cedartown.
Pallbearers were Lawrence
Broom, Wendell Dudley,
Charles Rush, Frank Crane,
George Dawson, Joe Dawson,
Bill Oyler and Hubert Fugett.
Honorary pallbearers were
John Stancell, Lavoid Coffey,
Randy Baker and Bill Mitchefi.
Mr. Chadwick was a native
of Fort Payne, and a disabled
truck driver. He formerly
drove for D. & D. Trucking,
Summerville. He was a
member of Oak Hill Baptist
Church.
His parents, J.C. and
Naomi Chadwick, and a
brother, Mike Chadwick, all
died earlier.

Alfred Chandler
Alfred Chandler, 91, Sum
merville Rte. 2, Back Penn
Road, died at 6:35 p.m. on
March 7 at his home.
He was born in Chattooga
county on Jan. 22, 1900, son of
the late William H. and Ludie
Hood Chandler. Mr. Chandler
was retired from the spinning
department of the Riegel Divi
sion of Mount Vernon Mills,
and was a member of the
Welcome Hill Baptist Church.
His wife, Della Mae Lancaster
Chandler, died in 1970.
Surviving are four
daughters and sons-in-law,
Thefma and Cliff Johnson,
Forest Park, Clara and Charlie
Ware, Ann and Leonard
Meadows, and Nell and Walter
Love, Trion; one sister-in-law,
Mattie Jo Lancaster, Trion;
nine Erandchildren; four step
grandchildren; seven great
grandchildren; 12 step-great
grandchildren; one step-great
great-grandchild; nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Sunday in the
Welcome Hill Baptist Church
with the Revs. Jack Chandler
and Herbie Cook officiating.
Interment was in West Hfil
Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were

Meadows, Jeff Meadows, Jerry
Johnson, Frank Majors and
Howard Shelton. lionorary

the auditorium class of the

Johnny Chastain
Johnny Wesley Chastain,
39, Ringgold Rte. 2, died Satur
day morning in a Chattanooga,
Tenn., hospital.
Mr. Chastain was born on
July 31, 1951, in Walker Coun
ty, son of the late Robert and
Rublee Oglesby Chastain.
Survivors include his
widow, Shelia Nicholson Chas
tain; daughter, Tonya Chas
tain, Cartersville; two sons,
David Chastain and John
Chastain Jr., Cartersville; two
brothers, Robert Chastain,
Rome, and Willie Chastain,
North Carolina; three sisters,
Catherine Webb, Ringgold,
Geraldine Hu(f ins,
Chickamauga, and \Felda
Smith, Summerville.
Funeral services were held
at 11 am. Monday in the
LaFayette Chapel of Lane
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Henry Hampton officiating.
Interment was in the
Crestlawn Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers were

Randell Webb, Dewayne
Walker and Ralph Bysinger.

Christopher
Hattie Harris Christopher,
102, 202 Summerville Garden
Apartments, died Tuesday
evening in the Chattooga
County Hospital. She was a
member of %est Fifth Street
Church of Christ. Her husband,
John Henry Christopher, died
previously.
Surviving are one daughter,
Betty L. Daniels, Summerville;
two sons, Willie Christopher
and Curtis ChristoKher, é)um
merville; one daughter-in-law;
grandchildren; great
grandchildren; great-great
grandchildren; nieces,
nephews, cousins and other
relatives.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Saturday in the West
Fifth Street Church of Christ
with Minister Joel Brown and
other ministers officiating.
Members of the church were
flowerbearers and pallbearers.
Interment was in Pennville
Cemetery.
Willis Funeral Home,
Dalton, had charge of
arrangements.
C.L. Paniel
C. L. Daniel Jr., 61, Sum
merville Rte. 2, Back Penn
Road, died at 1:15 am. on
March 7 at his home.
He was born in Cherokee
County, Ala., on July 10, 1929,
son of the late Cooper Leonard
and Cecil White Daniel. He was
a used car dealer, a Baptist, a
member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars and a veteran of
the Korean Conflict. A firand
daughter, Barbara Gail Daniel,
a sister, Juanita Daniel, and
two brothers, Gary V. Daniel
and Nathan C. Daniel, died
previously.
Surviving are his widow,
Lillian S. Daniel, Summerville;
six children, Denise Cooper,
Trion, Diane Houston, Ring
gold, Danny Michael Daniel,
remen, Donna Bowling, Ring
gold, and Lisa Teems and Cin
y Teems, Summerville; six
6randchildren, Derick Nichols,
ena Nichols, Christy Cooper,
Dana Daniel, Michael Daniel
and Katie Bowling; two sisters
in-law, Leo Daniel, Summer
ville, and Ruth Petitt, Lyerly;
nieces and nephews, Bobby
and Frances Evans, Kathy and
David Daniel and Linda \%ells;
great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel
of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home
with the Revs. Raymond Dunn
and Waydell Howell of
ficiating. Interment was in
Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Bill Brooks, Odell LeMasters,
Jon Payne and Gene Day.

local used car dealers and car
clean-up employees.
Willie Scoggins
Willie Roy Scoggins, 70,
Summerville, died Monday
night, March 4, after a lengthy
illness.
Mr. Scoggins was born in
Floyd Coun%:'-lon May 1, 1920,
son of the late William Charles
and Sadie Irene Rosson Scog
gins. He was a veteran of
World War 11, a member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars and
American Legion. His wife
Hazel Collett Scoggins, died
earlier.
Surviving are two
daughters, Shelia Durham and
Janice Blackman, Summer
ville; two sons, Ronald Scog-
gins, Trion, and Charles *Son

Syble Mosier, Summerville;

West lfill Cemetery.

Underwood
Ronnie Richard ‘‘Richey”
Underwood, 23, 12 Southern
Woods Drive, Armuchee, died
Saturday in Cartersville.
Mr. Underwood was born in
Floyd County on May 18, 1967,
son of Ronnie Wallace Under
wood and Wilma Gay Kirby
Money. He had spent his entire
life in Floyd County and was a
member of Armuchee United
Methodist Church. At the time
of his death, he was associated
with North Georgia Equip
ment Co. He was a 1986
graduate of Armuchee Hiih
chool. He was married to the
former Angela Lynn Thacker
who survives. o
Surviving besides his
widow are one son, Richard
Ryan Underwood, Armuchee;
two sisters, Shonda Under
wood, Coosa, and Regina
Crider, Shannon; two brothers,
Jimmy Underwood, Coosa, and
Mark Underwood, Armuchee;
mother and stepfather, Wilma
and Larry Money, Rome;
father and stepmother, Mr. and
Mrs. Ronnie Wallace Under
wood, Dalton, formerly of Sum
merville; and%a:rents, Mr.
and Mrs. fil.lO. irby, Silver
Creek, and Mr. and Mrs. C. W.
Underwood, Dalton, formerly
of Summerville.
Funeral services were held
at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the
Parkview Chapel of Fred
Talley’s Funeeral Home,
Rome, with the Rev. Carl Alex
ander and Coach Ronnie
Newberry officiating. Inter
ment was in Oaknoll filemorial
Gardens.
Pallbearers were Tommy
Shaw, Randall Fuller, Tim
Brannon, Mark Poole, Chad
Burkett, Walter Trapp, Chris
Evans and Steve Henderson.
Fire Destroys
Lyerly House
The home of a Lyerly
woman was destroyed by fire
last Saturday, according to
Dep. Tony Cobb of the ghat
tooga Coun% Sheriff's Office.
hirley Hatcher, Georgia
Avenue, awakened to find her
house full of smoke and a wall
afire, the report indicated. She
was able to get her children out
of the house but the house was
a total loss, Cobb said.
Meanwhile, the Summer
ville Fire Department ex
tinguished a grass fire and a
fire at a small vacant building
at the home of Martha
Ballenger, Highway 114, Mon
day afternoon.
Firemen also responded to
reports about a car fire at
Hardee's restaurant, North
Commerce Street, Summer
ville, Monday morning but the
fire was out on arrival of the
fire truck.
Lyerly Council
Meet Postponed
The regular meeting of the
Lyerly City Council was
postponed Tuesday due to lack
of quorum. The meeting has
not yet been rescheduleg.
