In Tour
¢t The Summerville Industrial
Development Authority (IDA)
has voted to help finance a
Chattooga County exhibit dur
ing the Red Carpet Tour in
April..
The panel voted Tuesday
morning at Summerville City
Hall to iive $750 to the Chat
tooga Chamber of Commerce,
which is sponsoring the local
exhibit. David Pool, chairman
of the Red Carpet tour for the
chamber, made the request in
a letter to John Turner, IDA
chairman.
The total cost will be
around $2,000 to $3,000, Pool
said. Local utilities, industries
and other governmental or
quasi-governmental bodies will
also be asked to share in the
cost, he indicated in the letter.

will visit an exhibit area in
Rome on April 10, featuring 12
Northwest Georgia counties.
Purpose of the annual tour to
different parts of the state is to
lure new business and
industry.

notice published in this week’s
edition of The Summerville
News.
The Georgia Environmen
tal Protection Division said

itself doesn't pose a threat to
health.

SHERIFF RALPH KELLETT POSES WITH CRACK
Drug, Cash Seized In Saturday Raid
In Crack Raid
New Chattooga County Sheriff Ralph Kellett got a
quick introduction to part of his job when he went on a drug
raid at a Summerville house late Saturday.
Terry B. Bankston, 24, 407 Highland St., was charged
with possessing cocaine with intent to distribute the drug
and jailed. April C. Smith, 23, Summerville Rte. 5, and
Samantha Gardner, 20, Summerville Rte. 5, were both
charged with possessing cocaine.
A search warrant was served in a mobile home off Or
chard Road, said Sheriff Kellett, and the three were arrested
after the lawmen found nine rocks of suspected crack co
caine. Also seized were a set of scales, watc%. ring and $lB6
cash. The raid took place at 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
It was led by Inv. Chip Whitley of the Lookout Moun
tain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, Inv. Ladon Lively,
Sheriff Kellett, Inv. Ron Turner, Dep. Gary Campbell, Dep.
Stan Mosley and Dep. Jerry Davenport.

To Boost Health Care

to apply for a federal grant to

health care services.
Several health care groups
met at the hospital early Mon
day afternoon to discuss the
Rural Health Outreach Pro
gram, according to Dan
weitzer, executive director of
the hospital and Oak View
Nursing Home.
Up to $300,00 in federal
funds are available for each of
three years, he said. It is like
