Superintendent Terry Sentell
at the monthly meeting of the
Trion Town Council last Thurs
day night.
Sentell said the town's per
mit allows the release of up to
30 million parts of suspended
solids. On several occasions, 35
million parts were released, he
said. However, Sentell said the
daily flow did not exceed the
monthly standards mandated
by the EPD and the town did
not have to pay a fine for
November.
Sentell also reported to the
council that he expects work on
the plant’s belt-press building
to have begun this week. He
also said the plant’s newly
hired employee has started and
should aflow 10 truckloads of
sludge per day to be removed
instead of six, which is being
released now.
GRANT
Mayor Hoyt Williams said
he received a telephone call
from Gov. Zell Miller notifying
him of the unofficial confirma

Relfiilonal Commission grant.
Williams said the town must
come up with $20,000 in local
funds to get the SIBO,OOO. He
said he told the governor that
shouldn’t be a problem. The
town now awaits an official let
ter of confirmation.
In his report on the recent
ly closed Park Avenue Bridge,
Williams showed council
members photographs of the
bridge’s deteriorateg steel sup
ports. Williams also said state
officials told him they had sent
letters to the town for years
warning that repairs neet{ed to
be made. Williams said he has

that was to have been sent to
the town to be by mid-January.
