Lawmen are looking for
burglars who stole $2,300
worth of items from a Chat
tooga County residence on
ghnstmas Eve or Christmas
ay.
Sheriff Ralph Kellett and
Dep. Ray Brandon said the
thieves hit the home of Rodger
Dover, Farmersville Road,
Summerville Rte. 4.
Listed as missing were
three saddles, stereo system
with four speakers, a video
cassette recorder, microwave,
billfold with credit cards and a
cordless telephone. The front
door and bathroom doors to
the home were also damaged,
the report indicated.
A young Chattooga man
has been charged with theft by
taking and forgex"iy in connec
tion with an incident on Dec.
17, according to Inv. Joey
Norton.
A thief broke out a front
window at Penn Auto Su;g:ly,
Highway 27, Pennville, Sun
day night or Monday morning,
said Inv. Davenport. About
$2,300 worth of tools stacked
just inside the window were
reported missing.
FORGERY
Jason D. Baker, 20, Sum
merville Rte. 1, was charged on
Saturday in connection with
checks taken from Missy
Mason, 702 Bellah Ave., Sum
merville. Baker allegedly cash
ed one of the checks at a Sum
me_a‘tiville super market, Norton
said.
Chattooga officers had a
suspect in the theft of a 1981
vehicle on Christmas Day, ac
cording to an unsigned report.
The vehicle was reportedly
taken from Carolyn Anderson,
Summerville Rte. 1, the report
stated.
A 1979 model car was
reported stolen from Tina Lind
sey, Summerville Rte. 3, on
Christmas Eve, according to
Dep. Diantha Wood. It was
reportedly taken from her
home.
A vehicle that was not iden
tified on the report was
reported stolen from Michael
Gregory, Calhoun, when he left
it on U. S. Highway 27 near
Gore between Dec. 15 and Dec.
17, reported Sgt. Tara Van
Pelt. The vehicle reportedly
broke down with Gregory at
the location, the report
indicated.
A 1989 model car was found
burned in the Chattoogaville
community on Sunday, accor
ding to Dep. Brandon.

hit an all-time high for October,
accordin% to figures released
by the U.S. Department of
Commerce. This was the se
cond consecutive monthly
record.
October textile and apparel
imports increased 15.1 percent
over October, 1990, totaling
1.273 billion square meters.
Textile imports alone in
creased 17.3 percent over Oc
tober, 1990, while apparel im
ports jumped 12.8 percent,
yarn soared by 57.3 percent
and cotton products grew 18.6
percent.
The textile and apparel
trade deficit for October was
11.7 percent greater than Oc
tober, 1990, althou%h for the
recession months of January
through October, the deficit
declined 4.4 percent.

The Coosa Valley Private Industry
Council is issuing ‘‘Request For Pro
posal's” ‘RFP.'s) to provide job training
services for disadvantaged individuals,
age 14 and above (including those age
55 +), and dislocated workers. The RFP’'s
are for Eligibility Determination, Assess
ment, On-the-Job Training, Customized
Training, Short-Term Classroom Training,
Individual Referral, GED Training, and
Youth Competencies.
Job trainin%services proposed should
serve the Northwest Georgia counties of
Bartow, Catoosa, Chattoo?:_. Dade,
md. Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk,
Walker. This proposal request is bas
ed on the need for service as identified
in the two (2) year job training plan for the
Coosa Valley Area.
Programs may operate from July 1,
1992 through June 30, 1993 with the ex
ception of Short-Term Program which
may be funded beginning April 1, 1992
if unexpended funds from the current
ear are identified. An estimated total of
¥2 million dollars is available in 11-A funds;
$85,000 in Older Worker funds; and
$240,000 in EDWAA funds. Approximate
ly 1400 individuals will be served in the
pro%rams.

Estimated performance standards for
these programs in their entirety are: adult
employment rate at 13 week follow-up of
75%,; avera?e weekly earnings at follow
up of S2OO for adults; adult welfare rate
at follow-up of 70%; and average weekly
earnings of welfare adults of $lB7. Youth
standards are 52% entered emplo¥menl
rate and 45% youth enhancement rate.
These standards may vary due to adjust
ment methodology used.
Service providers who demonstrate
satisfactory performance may be given
the opportunity to re-negotiate cost and
other factors for programs to be operated
during Program Year 1993-1994.

Eligibility Determination, Assessment,
and Youth Competency proposal formats
is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on January 23,
1992. Technical assistance scheduled on
Januar& 24, 1992 at 9:30 a.m. is for Short-
Term Classroom, GED, and Individual
Referral; at 1:30 p.m. Customized, and
On-the-Job Training. Deadline for pro
posal submission is 4:30 p.m. on
Februarz 14, 1992.
The Private Industry Council reserves
the right to reject any and all proposal.
Funding is contingent upon the availabili
ty of federal funds.
