equipment for the new building
to be received around March 1
and installation begun at that

A mobile home was
destroyed by fire in Summer
ville during the past week, ac
cording to reports at the city
machines, of which four are in
operation.
Peek said the new, more
modern equipment is working
out “‘great.”
“It’s later models than we
had before, more are efficient
and produce a better quality
product,” he said.
Peek added that 40 new
looms, expected in May will be
added to the old opening room
in the main mill building. That
room will be transformed into
a spinning room.

was burned in the blaze,

fire. Barbara Yancey was listed
as owner of the mobile home.
The fire occurred at 4:17 p.m.
Friday, the report indicated.
Summervilfie firemen also
assisted Trion firemen at a
house fire in the Dickeyville (or
South Trion) community at
6:30 a.m. Sunday.
The blaze occurred at the
home of Wanda Russell, 303
Rossville Blvd., the report in
dicated. No one was at home at
the time of the fire in the east
side bedroom, said Sgt. David
Westbrooks of the Chattooga
Counti/) Sheriff's Office. Cause
of the .fire s . under
investigation.
A woods fire on Sunset
Drive close to a house was ex
tinguished Saturday morning.
Firemen couldn't reach two
grass fires this é)ast week, one
off Norton Road and the other
off Penn Bridge Road. They
called the Chattooga County
Unit of the Georfiia Forestry
Commission, which extinguish
ed the fires.
Teen Charged In Molestation
A Trion teen-ager has been
arrested on charges of trying to
get two boys to perform oral
sex on him, according to
Sheriff Ralph Kellett of the
Chattooga County Sheriff’s
Office.

Chamber Breakfast
Focuses On Health

Smith, administrator for North
Georgia Home Health Care.
Ms. glmith spoke Wednesday
morning at the Chattooga
Chamber of Commerce
Membership Breakfast.
Her primary focus was Ad
vance Directives.
‘““Advance Directives are
rather self-explanatory,” she
said. “They are documents
written in advance of serious il-
Iness that state choices about
medical treatment, or name so
meone to make choices about
medical treatment for you, if
you become unable to make
decisions.”
Ms. Smith explained that
through Advance Directives,
such as living wills and durable
powers of attorney for health
care, one can make legally valid
decisions about future medical
treatment.
She asked Chamber
members to look into Advance
Directives throuih a local
hospital or home-health care
agency.
Amy Astin of the American
Heart Association also spoke
to Chamber members.
She reminded the group
that February is heart month,
and in Chattooga County the
Heart Association is getting
ready to kick off its Heart
Fund Drive.

tryinE to raise money.”
She explained what the
funds raise(f would be spent on.

BURGLARY
A burglar entered the home
of James Robert Thomas on
Summerville Rte. 1 Sunday
night or Monday, according to
Sheriff Kellett and Sgt. Stan
Mosley.
A video cassette recorder
and electric saw were stolen.
They were later found. ReFort,s
indicated that the sheriff's of
fice is seeking a suspect in the
case.
A thief entered the
Cloudland Volunteer Fire
Department fire hall between
Jan. 20 and this past Saturday,
according to Sgleriff Kellett
and Dep. Stan Smith.
Entry was gained by break
ing a window in the fire hall,
the report indicated. Several
windows were also broken in
the adjacent community
building. There was evidence
other attempts had been made
to enter the fire hall, Smith
said. About $35 in gasoline was
reported missing from the fire
truck.
DRUGS
Two Chattooga Countians
were arrested Friday on
charges of possessing cocaine.
No report was availa%le on the
incident Tuesday afternoon.
Tony D. Nores. 26, Back
Berryton Road, Summerville,
and Timmy T. Kirby, 30, 17
Woodland Ave., Summerville,
were both charged with
possessing cocaine, according
to the jail docket.
A Lyerly man was also
char Fed with two counts of
cruelty to children Tuesday.
Inv. Joey Norton Jr. identified
him as Larry Lee Huddleston,
24, Lyerly Rte. 1.
Norton said Huddleston
was charged with beating two
bois with a paddle. Agent Bari
Sabo of the Georgia Bureau of
Investigation, Visiting Teacher
John Hayes, and tfie Chat
tooga Counté Department of
Family and Children Services
assisted in the probe.
Paul Wade, 6, Old River
Road, Summerville, was bitten
by a dog‘ on McCollum Street,
Trion, Tuesday evening, the
sheriff's office reported.
