Committee Seeks Funds To Clean Up
The Lyerly Cemetery com
mittee is trying to raise money
for its cemetery fund.
According to committee
member Annie Mae Kimbell,
the cemetery is in need of
repair after {')eing vandalized
several times and simply from
the elements.
Right now, there are not
sufficient funds to take care of
the dead flowers atop the
graves, reyair the stones, or fill
in some of the very old graves.
Mrs. Kimball said the com
mittee would like to do the
repair work lot by lot, starting
with those in the worst shape.
But the funds needed for such
a project are not available, she
said.
The cemetery committee
asked that families take dead
flowers to the dump; and
they're also asking for dona
tions from families to go
toward repair work on their
lots.
As a family gives the com
mittee permission to do the
work and makes a financial
contribution, the committee
will begin its work on those
lots.
According to Mrs. Kimball,
a trust certi%icate of the com
mittee’s will mature in April
and the interest will be down to
4 percent. She said that's not
