was foul trouble and Miss
Williams’ accuracy that turned
out to be the problem.
“We wanted to make them
beat us outside,” said coach
Steve Turner. “And as a team
they didn’t shoot well. Our
trouble was we kept putting
Amy Williams at the foul line.
Take away her free throws, and
we'd have won the game.”
Miss Williams’ free throws
boosted Model’s percentage to
80 percent, 32 otpfo. She only
scored one other goal, a three
point basket.
“She shot as many free
throws as we did as a team,”
Turner said. ““The reason she
only scored one basket was we
were too busy fouling her.”
Model took a 16-8 first
quarter lead, and the gap
widened with each quarter. The
halftime score was 31-17.
